This museum is perfectly located right in the heart of the NSW outback where filming for the 1980's sequel Mad Max 2 was filmed. Adrian has done a fine job to capture the raw experience of what the wasteland would be like and if you let him talk, you could spend days listening to the insights and stories about the film, the actors, and the locations. The museum exhibits include the largest collection of film props, cars, photos, and memorabilia I have ever seen from a 'boutique' tourist attraction. This museum is what really puts Silverton on the international tourists bucket list and I have visited this place a few times now. Each visit there is new stuff to see, and stories to hear. You won't see curators in white overcoats and felt gloves here, it is raw, it is deliberate, it is just what it needs to be to experience the essence of the phenomenon known as Mad Max. I'll be back here again no doubt

We have not seen the movie but still went to check out the museum as we heard a lot about it. The place definitely has a lot of memorabilia and info about the movie and its making. Worth a visit for the movie fans. We got there only 15 minutes before the closing time, but Adrian (the owner) was quite friendly and asked us to come in and spend as much time as we needed. Very helpful and accommodating indeed. I am sure if we had seen the movie, we would have related to it a lot more. Still glad we checked it out while we were there.

Well worth the small fee and the drive from Broken Hill. Don't miss it, very friendly people, and more than you expect behind the front door. If door is closed just push the door bell and someone will come.

This is a museum with a difference! It houses the most amazing collection of Mad Max memorabilia. The owners are very friendly and are like walking Wikipedias on this topic, they are more than happy to chat and answer any questions you might have. An unreal amount of memorabilia and well worth the money :) there is so much to look at and offers something for everyone. An added bonus was that parts of the movie were filmed nearby and we got to see the locations :) well worth the visit. Allow for at least a hour minimum or you just miss too much.

My partner spent over an hour in here. The attention to detail is incredible. We visited on a Saturday in summer when Broken Hill is like a ghost town itself, but thought Silverton, it's galleries and museums well worth the short trip up and down those dips!

What an interesting place! Definitely worth the visit when visiting Broken Hill. The proprietor was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. If you are a Mad Max Buff, you will love this town where the crew frequented and where the movie was shot in the area. Anything you want to know, Adrian will point you in the right direction, even to the main areas where the many movie shots were taken. Highly recommend. We will return.

We were in Broken Hill and thought what the hell, it's close by, let's go....that's the only reason I would go.The actual car and memorabilia are good to look at but in 15 mins you've had enough...just enough time for a photo opp near the car and outside with lots of red earth roads and that's it.

I visited the museum and enjoyed seeing the cars, photos and video from the movie. The owner Adrian is obsessed with every detail of the movie but welcomed everyone personally to the museum and made sure that everyone had a great experience. He continues to research new artefacts and the location of the museum a few Kim's away from where the film was shot makes it super special. Really enjoyed the visit and will definitely be back. Thanks Adrian, Clive December 2014

The Mad Max 2 museum is great - there is a crazy amount of photographic memorabilia, costumes and actual cars and other assorted items. We were warmly welcomed in and the entry fee is very reasonable. The gentleman running the place was really nice and friendly; very knowledgable about not only the film but the actors also and is genuinely passionate about keeping things authentic and interesting for visitors. For those who feel the heat quickly - it's situated right next door to a cafe so after you're done looking at everything (we were in there for a while!) you can have a cold drink next door. The displays are subject to change occasionally so if you visit more than once you can see something new. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Broken Hill and / or Silverton.

The whole idea of Trip advisor is to give a FAIR and TRUTHFUL review so other potential visitors get some idea of what to expect. You thought the museum was "very average", that's fair enough and is your opinion of which you are fully entitled to..but..you say "the museum was mainly old photo's"? This comment however is as far from the truth as it gets and frankly mind boggling!I'm not sure why you would review the museum as "mainly old photo's" when the display is full of memorabilia and props including 17 Mad Max vehicles in our outside display! Maybe you missed all this? Some visitors spend hours looking at the "old" photo's we have as they explain a lot of what went on behind the scene's and also help compliment a lot of the other items on display! Finally, the museum is not run by a couple "obsessed with mad max 2"! we are in fact very passionate about sharing our interest and collection with others to celebrate this great achievement in Australian film history, something that no one else has done!!

If you liked Mad Max 2 don't miss it.Loads of bits and pieces to see, especially about making the film.I should imagine it to be not very interesting if you aren't a fan

No I didn't want to go in ....but it was great!!! Very professional & so friendly ....can't believe such a fantastic exhibition exists in such a remote location!!! Congrats ....it's just a shame that it's not better publicised by the a Broken Hill Council.

Definitely a must do, when visiting Broken Hill & Silverton...a short 25km from The Hill. Adrian is full of Mad Max knowledge & shares all the information freely..The Original Photos taken on set are excellent. Stop on in & say G-Day & enjoy the outback experience. Just another 7km down the road are The Mundi Mundi Plains & Lookout...where parts of Mad Max 2 was filmed ...Adrian will let you in on the exact place The Tanker tipped...just ask :).

This is THE place for all Maxers to go. I was lucky enough to go up this last weekend and if you think you are devoted prepare to be outdone by Adrian and Linda, the owners and developers of this masterpiece. Their journey is well documented and they have done a fantastic job with the place. Adrian's knowledge on all things Max is incredible. The set up of the museum is great with the outback experience contributing to the whole thing. Directions to the filming locations are readily given out and some good souvenirs can be purchased. We spent several hours there. If you have watched the movie you must go and if you havent watched the movie then do yourself a favour (sorry Molly)

Took may wife out here while we were staying in Broken Hill. There is some interesting stuff if you are a fan of Mad Max 2. The space available is used to the best of there ability but I a little more spread out wouldn't hurt. If your not a fan or at least intrigued then this isn't the place for you.
