We would also like to have more Australians join our tour but I am afraid the theme parks are very strong attractions for families visiting this region. The Australian families we do get joining the tour always seem to have fun but yes most of our guests are international visitors looking for something different from theme parks which they have at home.

Hi There,Thank you for your review on Catch a Crab, we are sorry to hear that your family did not have an enjoyable time after the cruise.Unfortunately, as we are a river based activity with an abundance of mangroves we are not able to ward off all the Sandflies. We do offer repellent on board the boat at all times and staff do suggest in the safety talk that if you are inclined to get bitten to utilise the spray. We also have Sandfly procedures in place in our cafe. Due to Catch a Crab operating in a natural environment we do not have complete control over insects that may share the river with us. Hello,Thank you for your four star rating of Catch a Crab! We offer a crab trapping demonstration on our trip which includes trapping and handling of the crabs + the famous crab show. We are not a crab fishing tour so it is not quite the same as a fishing trip. We offer lunch packages and an A La Carte menu in our café after your cruise. We're glad you got to experience the lunch and the large portions. Hopefully we will see you again on Catch a Crab soon!

Hello, We are very sorry that the confusion with the transfer spoilt your day, the transfer is provided by a separate company and we organise the transfer merely as service. When you notified us that you had not been collected from your hotel, we did do our best to arrange and pay for a taxi for you to bring you down, the only way we could get you back to your hotel was to give you money towards the taxi. We do not know why the taxi overcharged you so much, as previously advised we have contacted the taxi company on your behalf to try and rectify the situation for you. Way to spend our morning around GoldCoast airport before our flight back to Sydney. 1) Pelican feeding, get your hands dirty with some pilchards 2) Yabby pumping is great fun although I would recommend board shorts and a t-shirt you are happy to get wet in. 3) Crab catching involves each group pulling up a preset bait trap. We had the biggest crab of the lot and you'll get to take photos but you don't get to take the crab home to cook. Meals can be included in the package at additional cost (pricey)... we drove to a nearby fish market to eat instead 4) Fishing is unremarkable given the fish are so small you just spend your time getting baited. The fish that were caught were all small and undersized anyway. 5) Oyster farm talk was a little disappointing.... Also there are toilet and sinks on the boat. Here at Catch a Crab we have a crab trapping demonstration to help educate our guests on how to catch crabs, should you wish to take it home next time it can be purchased at market price. I am sorry you did not enjoy the crab trapping experience as much as you did the other activities.We pride ourselves on only using the freshest and best quality produce to ensure that only the best possible lunches are served in our Birds Bay Oyster Farm Café, its a shame you didn't get to experience the lunch. We also have lunch and tour packages that may suit you better next time. As we utilise the Tweed River system unfortunately we cannot guarantee the fish that are caught are legal size for you to take home.
