So curiosity got the better of me and I paid a visit to the big easel. It's also located in a nice park with plenty of car parking and some shade. Emerald has grown and is looking great. Great, worthwhile visit.

A massive tourist attraction, in a literal sense at least, and right next to the tourist information centre. Certainly catches and holds your attention, which I guess is a key objective with any artwork. Can't help wondering what Vincent would think of it all.

A giant painting on an easel in the park, how novel, and a popular one at that. wondered around the park read the inscriptions on the rocks, the mosaic path was very good and related to the writings. very interesting

The Sunflower Painting is part of a worldwide series called the Big Easel based on Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflower collection. It is situated in the park behind Emerald's information centre on the main road heading west out of town. The painting itself is 7 x 10 meters and sits on a large 25 meter high steel easel weighing a whopping 17,000 kgs. It is decorated below by a rock garden and was erected in 1999. Definitely get a tourist pic of yourself in front of this great landmark.

We stop for a look at all the "big things" if possible around the country. This huge Van Gogh sunflower painting is in Morton Park, just at the back of the Visitor Centre. The closes you get, the bigger it seems and it is actually 25 metre's high.Enjoy the walk around the park also after viewing.

Set in grounds of local information centre, no need to go searching which was great as I visit 'big things' wherever I go.

The largest painting of flowers on a canvas, is located in Emerald near the tourist info center. Also nearby is a mini pioneer village featuring old houses and an old prison. It is located in a large open space and is actually really very big! It provides a great photo opportunity and something interesting to marvel at. To go in the tourist info center, take a photo at the painting and look around the old houses I would say it would take only an hour or less - but worth a look.
