This was a wonderful experience to have during our time in Mission Beach. At each seat you will be provided with 1 medium plate, a teaspoon, a napkin, a business card, a pen and a survey. Each row is provided with a small tidy bin. The table at the front was adorned with all sorts of tropical fruit. The lady started by talking about the fruit.(Apparently this fruit tasting is a one of it's kind in the world!) When each fruit was presented, another lady came around with a tray which had the fruit cut up on it and handed out pieces to everyone with tongs. Some fruits were lovely, others were a bit 'yucky'. It all depends on what you think! The room is air conditioned, which makes it a great escape from the heat. Overall this is a great idea if you are willing to try something new and go out of your comfort zone.

There was a good variety of fruits to taste, most of which I had never had before. The presenters were very knowledgeable, and we really enjoyed the experience.

Great variety and description of exotic fruits! I went more than once! It's a great way to learn about local fruits and the staff really know their stuff!

A 1 hour session of tasting lots of different tropical fruits (maybe 10-15) for around $9. They try to avoid the more common ones to give you a taste of some that you probably haven't had before (or even heard of). The volunteers are very enthusiastic and know a lot about the fruit. Some of the fruit was delicious and some of it was interesting to taste (but not sure I feel the need to try them again). If you are in the area, it is well worth a stop. Mondays and Tuesdays 1-2pm. Make sure you don't eat a lot before hand, you will be pretty full afterwards otherwise. Kids seemed to enjoy it as well.

A professional, informative and generous event. A wonderful display of tropical fruits followed by an extensive tasting. Angi, the presenter, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The cameo appearance of Judith, the cassowary, topped off a terrific experience. Thank you to all the hard working volunteers.

We dropped in to the visitor centre and were told about this event - what a great hour it proved to be!Angie - presenter - v knowledgeable and enthusiastic didn't miss a beat- tried about 20 different fruits - all but 2 were new to me- and there was I thinking that I was a super-taster! Good advice to get there early - Angie was talking to a full house...Oh and the icing on the cake... A cassowary walked past the room while we were tasting, and we had an up-close view of this astounding bird! Many thanks to Angie and her helpers - our children enjoyed the event too.

This was a great experience. It was less than ten dollars each and we got to taste an amazing array of fruits that we had never seen before or even heard of. The black sapote is quite an experience, and those little bananas that originated in Hawaii tasted just like a banana paddle pop. Angie and the lovely lady volunteer helping her (sorry but it was a few weeks ago and I have forgotten her name) were extremely knowledgeable about the fruits and their origins, and about how to serve them. The lovely gentlemen handing out the fruits were lovely too, It was a great atmosphere.

I went to the Tropical Fruit Safari today. It's held at the Mission Beach Tourist information centre. It costs $9.50 each and runs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 1pm, finishing around 2pm. It was well organised and run. I have eaten a lot of tropical fruit over my life and I thought this would be a rehash of previous experiences. Definitely NOT. The fruit was very rare, and a flavour and information extravaganza. The presenter, Angie, knew her stuff from flavours, taste sensations and texture to habitat and availability. Next is a trip to the Farm Tropical Fruit Tour. I think it best to do the Tropical Fruit Safari at the Information Centre prior to doing the farm tour

The wonderfully enthusiastic crew at this fruit tasting experience brought to our attention the unusual and delicious crops grown by the farmers in the Mission Beach district. We were surprised at the variety and uniqueness of the fruits available in season for us all to taste - the abiu or caramel fruit was a hit, as were the naranjilla and rollinia! The organisers of this venue are to be congratulated on their presentation skills and friendliness - we will definitely be recommending this trip to others!

Just got back from this fruit tasting experience and was really impressed! The staff were very enthusiastic and really knew what they were talking about. It was brilliant to be able to taste exotic fruits from all over the World, especially the peanut butter fruit and the 'caramel' fruit! Would definitely recommend, and it was great value for money.

This was over an hour of tasting, feeling and listening to stories about more than 20 types of exotic fruit plus some fruit wine from murdering point and fresh pie made by an information centre volunteer / worker. Not for bored spouses and children..

I felt that it didn't quite live up to its name. "Tropical Fruit Safari" sounds much more interesting than it actually is - however, it was still an interesting hour, trying new and exciting fruits. The woman that ran it was very enthusiastic and welcoming. There were a few children present, who very quickly got bored of sitting and listening to someone talking about the fruit, and then became somewhat restless. Be aware that this talk isn't very thrilling for younger kids. Overall, I did enjoy the talk and I got to sample some of the fruits that I wouldn't normally have eaten. It wasn't quite what I had in mind though.
