We've hired a boat from here three times over the past year or so. The boats have full length canopies on them, so it's good for those that are sun conscious. For the size boat we got, I think it was $170 for 4 hours, which isn't much when you split it between 4 people per hour. The guy that runs the place is really friendly and flexible. The last time we went he told us just to send him an SMS if we wanted to stay out an hour longer, which we did - twice! So we spent 6 hours on the boat and visiting the islands.The authorities no longer require customers to have boat licences for the larger motors so don't let that stop you. We take boat out to dunk island and the surrounding islands for a swim and explore. You've got pretty good chances of seeing a turtle or two in these waters. I'd also recommend having lunch at the Spit Bar on Dunk Island. It's a little shack that recently opened up. The meals are really tasty with more than decent portions.

We just got back from a great day checking out the islands off mission beach. Husband drove the boat very well considering he has not had a lot of experience. Our 3 kids had a ball- fishing and snorkeling. Excellent value for $210! Simon was knowledgable and helpful and the boat was equipped with all safety gear. The maps could have more info about landing sites on the islands as we forgot some of the information we were told before we left! Definitely do this trip.

We had plnned to rent a boat ourselves from this local operator. Sadly, we had to cancel due to our running out of time. Nevertheless, quality of boats, service provided us were great. The owner operator is a very friendly and cheerful character and we look forward to renting a boat from him in the future when we visit here again.

My girlfriend and I rented a boat and explored the stunning islands just offshore mission beach. The owner simon runs a great operation, he has boats that are perfectly made for this area, he explains the area you can explore and how to operate the boat in a way that any skill level could understand. Thanks Simon for another great day exploring the Islands & fishing for Mackerel. This is the second year we have hired a boat from you & we will certainly be back next year. Thanks for making it such an easy & fun experience for Steve & I. We were lucky enough to catch a couple of nice Mackerel & as an added bonus we came within 100 meters of 2 large whales gracefully migrating north. We also were surprised to encounter the gorgeous turtles. What a day!Thanks Simon

This is the 3rd year we have hired a boat from Simon to explore the islands off Mission Beach. Everything has always gone smoothly. A great way to visit the beautiful deserted islands. We love it and can't wait for next year.

We hired a large four-seater boat from Simon at Mission Beach Boat Hire. We had a wonderful day visiting Dunk Island and surrounding islands. It was very relaxing to be able to explore the area and enjoy a swim and a walk along deserted beaches. We saw a turtle and lots of sea-birds.Simon was friendly and professional and the boat was very suitable for the four of us. We would enjoy doing this again if ever we are lucky enough to visit another time.

After planning a holiday to visit Dunk Island, where we got married 10 years ago, only to find out that we had one day to visit the island before bad weather rolled in and the water taxi was fully booked out, we were put on to Simon. Hiring a 6hp boat with a canopy for a young family of four turned out to be the best idea ever. Simon, the owner, was a laid back, friendly and great to deal with guy. He fully kitted us out and after a brief explanation sent us on our way for a full day of fun. As we chose the full day option, it was slightly more expensive than the water taxi, though the half day hire was comparable, the freedom that we had to cruise around at our leisure more than made up for it. Our children loved helping to drive the boat, they loved the "happy tractor" more. This is a great way to get to Dunk Island and I would highly recommend it.

Hired two 18hp with 7 friends and enjoyed an awesome day on the water. Had the beach to ourselves at Bedarra island and enjoyed lunch back at Dunk Island. Capped off the afternoon with another private beach at the south tip of Dunk island. Boats were great and easy to use. Simon was fantastic, very friendly and has a great knowledge of the islands. Always happy to provide tips and insights. Highly recommend to anyone visiting mission beach.

I wanted to take my wife and daughters out for a day exploring the islands off Mission Beach. I met Simon, the owner of Mission Beach Boat Hire, and was immediately impressed by his very friendly yet professional manner. I reserved the boat for 2 days later, and he informed me of the time we needed to be ready. We arrived in the morning to find him waiting with life jackets, maps, and a very informative 10 minute session which taught me everything I needed to know about handling an 18 horsepower engine out on the water! We had the most excellent day zooming between the various islands, landing on pristine beaches on a boat that performed beautifully. On returning to Mission Beach, Simon was waiting in the water by the shore to make sure we all got off safely. Mission Beach Boat Hire provided us with an excellent experience, top value for money, and a friendly, easygoing attitude! I highly recommend a visit!

We travelled down to mission beach from cairns. Found the boat hire in south mission, couldn't believe we could hire boats and go to Dunk Island. It was an amazing experience. Simon who runs the show super friendly and has great boats for hire. The whole family enjoyed it!

We decided to spontaneously hire a boat to go island hopping off mission beach, and we came across this company by chance. We drove down to meet Simon, the owner, and he was there to meet us and he was very welcoming and friendly. Great guy - chatty and friendly, but still very thorough in going over the safety briefing and quite professional with the paper work. We got the 18hp boat so we could go to almost all the islands. We were thrilled that we didn't need a boat license to hire this boat. The boat was great. Very stable, fast and clean. We had 0 issues with the boat and it took us to all the islands we wanted to see. Returning was quite simple as well, as Simon was there to meet us on the beach when we came back after a full day on the sea. Prices are very fair. We also hired snorkeling equipment and an esky to bring out with us. We would definitely recommend Simons boat hire to anyone, and if we're ever in the area again, we're gonna go island hopping again.
