We enjoyed the underground tour. Wasn't at all claustrophobic. This is a working mine, still in use. Very well laid out and gives you an idea of how it was worked back in the 'old days'. Still pretty hard work, I reckon. It is lovely and cool underground so don't be afraid to book a tour in summer. We bought a bucket of wash and spent a pleasant time sifting, washing and sorting...and finding some sapphires. Back inside, the owner will check them, weigh them and you record your finds in a book. I got one that was worth cutting!

On our recent trip to emerald we drove 45mins out of town to visit bobby dazzler mine.Even though the kids had a ball and enjoyed heading down under ground and then fossicking through some wash I felt a little under whelmed with the whole experience.A little more interaction from the guide during the mine tour then during the fossicking would have made a big difference.I am glad we ticked it off our bucket list however would do some more research next time to try find somewhere else that gave the real mining experience. The staff where friendly enough and even went the extra mile and gave one of my sons some small stones when he dropped his findings on the ground.Would recommend this mine for the quick mining / fossicking experience which will keep the kids happy .

Thank you Marissa and Ruby Fran for such a fun day fossicking for sapphires. You explained everything really well and we spent nearly two hours at the fossicking tables, finding some lovely stones. Our lunch in the cafe was even better though. Try the Miners' Burger, it was beautiful and chatting to Ruby Fran made our day. Thank you!

what a great way to get "the whole experience" on the fields, starting out with a mine tour of an underground working mine, and see how miners get their stone, a bit of history, and get some knowledge of where the sapphire "runs", and perhaps do a bucket of wash, to learn how to find and identify your stones, or take the fossicking trail, and learn how to dig for sapphire out on the fields, also a great spot to get a bite to eat, and browse the gem shop for a set piece or rough stone ready for the gem cutter.

We had the best fossiking experience here, instead of just being handed a bucket of wash to sift through, fo a little extra money we were taken to the creek armed with shovels & spades etc to dog our own. Our guide Rachael was so good and gave us great hints on what to do & also helped Greg with the digging ! We found 23.5 carats of gems in 4 nice stones , we had so much fun we stayed a few more days in Rubyvale. Rubyfran was so friendly we did the underground mine tour &again Rachael mads the wholw tour with her knowledge & commentary, I , learnt so much. We had the best BLTs for lunch. The lovely Ruby took our photos decked in hardhats etc & posted them on her facebook page so it was eazy to share the experience with my friends...looking forward to voing there again.

We had only intended to stay one night in sapphire but we had such a good time at the Bobby Dazzler mine we decided to stay in Rubyvale for another couple of nights. We had never fossicked for sapphires before and thoroughly enjoyed it, Rubyfran was very friendly and informative. After showing us what to do with our bucket of wash she left us to it, checking occasionally to see if we had found the big Sapphire, well we hadn't but we did find 16 Carats. Two of our sapphires are being cut and set in a beautiful gold ring, what more could you ask for.....

Hidden off the main road is the very small town of Rubyvale. We stopped in to check out the Sapphire mines and found Bobby Dazzler's Sapphire Mine.We had a go at fossicking for sapphires, finding 15.5 carats, and explored the underground mine. I highly recommend stopping by.

On my recent trip to the outback i decided to stop in Rubyvale to try my luck finding gems. Driving though the town and talking with the locals, i was recommended to try one of the fossicking parks. The big statue out the front caught my eye so i decided to give these guys a go.Very friendly and helpful staff and once shown a demonstration on how to sieve for sapphires, i was happily there for hours sieving for gems! Amazing how much time flys when you're having fun. The mine tour was just as enjoyable, with a very knowledgeable tour guide who was happy to answer any questions i had. Cafe here is brilliant with tasty meals and drinks. If you're traveling past Rubyvale, do stop by Bobby Dazzlers as i highly recommend them!

Rubyvale was much more than what we expected, lovely town, great weather and plenty to see & do. Bobby Dazzler Sapphire Mine was a real eye opener to what they did back in the day & even what people are doing today to fine their gems. Rubyfran gave a great tour & Sapphire Brian helped with the buckets of wash to show us what to look for. We spent hours & came home very happy little gems. Highly recommend a stop off @ Bobby Dazzler & treat yourself to everything they have to offer. So friendly & we can't wait to come back again. Thank you
