There's not a great deal of 'tourist' attractions in St George but you must check out the work of Steve Margaritis. He has dedicated a large chunk of his life to carving exquisite emu egg designs. Worth checking out and if you have time he'll definitely tell you more than a story or two.

$3 is not much to pay. An intetesting spot that is worth a visit. Give it a try as it doesn't take too long to see.

This is a most amazing exhibition I have ever seen. Fantastic, and what a character is Stavros (Steve). Be sure to buy his book and read of one man's journey through an amazing life. (I am not related to Steve, or associated with his business in any way, but we have visited his store on 4 occasions and have loved it every time.) Entry to the viewing room is only $3.00 (at last visit.) You can't even buy a decent cup of coffee for that price!!!Everyone that I have advised to call in there has gotten back to me to thank me for telling them about The Unique Egg, and of course, Steve and has great story. Go and enjoy in amazement!

The talent that the gentleman has who carves the eggs is just amazing. The eggs themselves were beautiful. The video we watched of his life shows that with a little determination and imagination you can have a very successful life. This is a must on anyone's list of places to see.

The shop looked small and pokey but contained in the back room is an amazing collection of handcrafted emu eggs. They have cleverly placed the eggs on lights and in front of mirrors so that thirty or forty eggs looks like four hundred eggs but that only added to the allure of the place.

Put simply, if in St George you should visit. Only $3 to enter and well worth it. The achieved colours and patterns are quite breathtaking. None of the eggs are for sale but we were given a tour by the artist Stavros who at the very least is one of rural Queensland's great characters. Just do it.

If you do nothing else in St George you must see the Unique Egg - such an amazing talent and a very funny man. Loved being able to spend as much time as we wanted just looking at these works of art - absolutely stunning when the lights are off.

Brilliant, so unique and fantastic. What a talented man, do not miss this display. Never to be seen anywhere else.

You really must call in to this place if you are in St George. Fascinating: both the man and his display of carved Enu eggs. He even has signed letters of appreciation from the Australian Governer and the USA president. Amazing.

Worth a visit to see the amazing artwork carved into emu eggs - not something you see every day. Steve provided a quick tour and then we were able to browse around and look at the eggs at our leisure.

This Unique Egg experience is really worth a visit. The workmanship is incredible. Eggs have been given to the President of the USA, our Governor General as well as other VIP's.

Illuminated hand carved emu eggs by self taught Greek artist Steve. Well set out and very interesting. The man himself was there and that was a bonus.

This attraction is in a small low set brick building in the main street of the town of St George. Its the brain child of Steve Maragritis, apparently a number of years ago, Steve met with an Aboriginal man, who showed him and Emu's egg shell, which had been carved with an inscription in the surface of the egg. Being a wood carver from Greece, he went and found his own emu eggs and started to carve them with very intricate patterns. From this Humble and early beginnings, his business grew, until it is one of the main attractions of St George Today ! Entering into the shop off Victoria Street ( which is the main drag in town ) you will find the souvenir shop. You then enter the back room, which has hundreds of eggs, all of the intricately carved, and back lit in a darkened room so that the carvings are very easy to see. Steve Margaritis has also written a book about his life and the attraction which he has carved out in St George. Read the book and enjoy, as well as seeing this work of art.The entry fee is only $ 3.00 and a great coffee shop called Stevie Jeans, is right next door and run by his son in law and Daughter ! Enjoy both attractions you will not be disappointed !

This wonderful collection of hand carved illuminated Emu eggs can be found at the rear of the Balonne Sports Store in St George in Queensland. We found it by accident when we went to Stevie Jeans coffee shop next door for a lovely light lunch. I have never seen such intricate accurate carving and was amazed at the variety of patterns and scenes.Well worth the $3 entry!
