It's an interesting challenge to get there if you fly in using melbourne public transport. A worthwhile destination particularly for younger teenagers and older primary to learn and participate in science activities. But for those without mikey try getting one at the airport. The one only machine was inoperable and spots wood is a car destination. The train is only a ten min walk but directions at the station are misleading.

I never had the time to see everything at the Scienceworks but what I did see was good. There are some great exhibits to see, there are many forms of sea life (none alive, all models from what I saw) but there is some good information about them. The electricity show was good and interesting, you go inside a building and they teach you about static electricity and lightning, you get some see some really cool (and loud) demonstrations to do with lightning. There were two other shows to see but I never got around to it.Young children will especially like the science works and love the lightning show if they don't mind loud noises. There is a nice cafe in there too to get something to eat.My favourite part of this place, and the whole reason I went here, was the see the old pumping station out the back of the scienceworks. It is no longer used as it is now only a tourist attraction, you can go inside and see the old machinery and there is a panel setup so you can have a go at some of the old controls.A bit of trivia, if anyone remembers the old Australian show called Prisoner (aka Cell Block H in the UK) then you would be interested to know that this pumping station is where they filmed Blackmoor, you will recognise it instantly, have a look at the attached photos. When you finish a train station is only 10 minutes walk away, the staff can show you how to get there, it is pretty much a straight walk.We found the price for the attractions very reasonable.I do not know about wheelchair access at this facility, sorry.

This has a very large number of interactive displays to keep kids amused, as well as being interesting for adults too and first-time visitors often find this place fascinating. Very interesting permanent exhibitions, at a reasonable admission price. The technology interactive displays in the Think Ahead exhibition was excellent. The temporary exhibitions can be more expensive and vary in terms of value for money.

Scienceworks is a great day out for the entire family, there's plenty to do for both young and old and lots to learn. The kids will have a great time - bring a picnic rug or BBQ supplies to make full use of all the facilities.

Brilliant!!! The exhibits are interesting and very interactive. The planetarium is well worth money - just dont fall asleep in the comfy chairs!! And have a look at the pump house!!

My partner and i went when school had gone back so it wasn't so busy. It was a cheap day out we took our own food to have a picnic lunch, costs extra for the added show they have. larger range of things to do and see. Very worth it

Took the grandkids (8, 6 and 4) here on a rainy day and had to drag them away after 4 hours. The adults were tired. Almost everything is hands on or interactive and the kids just loved it. We had a season pass and that, or booking online, is the best way to go as you skip the general line-up to get in. The whole place makes learning fun and very interesting for the kids. Nobody wanted to leave. The highlights were just too numerous to mention. The restaurant is good and not too pricey but can get very crowded when it is raining as then there is no outside. Kids loved the museum so much, they went back two weeks later for another day. Parking is $3 for the day so take change as the parking machine gives nothing back. A very well done museum. You can get there by train but you do have a 10 minute walk then. The water ferry is the best way when the sun is out.

My trip to science works was amazing. You learn so much and there is so much to do!! Little kids - adults are going to have fun. Kids will learn heaps at science works

The price is extremely reasonable. The exhibits are all very "hands on" and there is something for every member of the family. The only drawback was locating coins for the parking meters at the entrance ( was not aware we would have to pay for parking)

We caught the ferry from Southbank to Scienceworks and return. Nice way to start the day.Scienceworks is an informative, fun & interactive day out. My 11 year old loved it especially the sports area.
