Beleura house and garden is the best historic house i have been in in Australia. It feels like the last occupant John Tallis has only just moved out. The pantry is filled with non perishable items from the 50's which was a real treat, his glasses, books, 50s radio and a can of Mortein still next the bed. Lots of great stories of the show biz personalities who had stayed in the house, like Dame Nellie Melba and her salt water baths, were given by the great guides. There are guides who specialise in the house, and those who specialise in the garden. They are really knowledge. Beautiful lunch, champagne on arrival - well worth the trip

Went on the Beleura - the House and Garden - tour in December 2013 and was informed today that this attraction is listed on the tripadvisor site so here is my honest review...The tour was Auslan interpreted - with many thanks to the Beleura staff members, one of them is Deaf - and was organised to cater for a group of Deaf people. The welcome was served with the morning tea/coffee and an overview about the Beleura - the House and Garden - was provided by their Director, Anthony and we were given the booklets. We were then taken through the House looking around different rooms, the Auslan interpreted narratives were provided throughout, followed by delicious lunch - sandwiches, homemade Christmas cake and beverages. The second tour continued with the Garden and the recently-opened theatre.Well done, the Beleura team for a successful tour, in an accessible format, accompanied by refreshments and lunch. Note: Auslan stands for Australian Sign Language.

This place is just stunning - the gardens are magnificent and the house is just as good too.We had a tour with the National Trust which included going there by a courtesy bus with silver service morning tea before an hour's tour of the gardens followed by an hour's tour of the house. We were then given gourmet sandwiches and cake for lunch with a speaker afterwards. The history of the house was so interesting and it was left exactly how it was when the last owner, John Tallis, died in 1996. The painted ceilings and art work are spectacular and being garden fanatics the garden was wonderful.Recommend anyone to do a tour which can only be booked through the House and you are transported there.Check out the website for more details.

This wonderful house and stunning garden are a real treat to visit. It will appeal to visitors keen on historic houses, interior decoration, the decorative arts and gardens. Visitors are picked up off-site and are given a tour of the house, lunch and then a tour of the garden. The guides are friendly and keen to share their knowlege of the history of the house and the redevelopment of the garden. Get a small group of friends together and enjoy a great day in the country.
