Returned to Healesville to meet friends and asked to eat here. Had to go on a waiting list but thankfully got in. Extensive range of food. Tried some wine whilst waiting, the pinots are great but the Moscato the real surprise package. Choose shared plates to get the full experience, the lamb shank croquettes are to die for. This is a must do. The wine making hall is amazing and it was so good I even bought a t-shirt.

Ths year we took friends Bill and Sally here for lunch. Just excellent wine and food as well as the beer, just lovely. Great attentive staff, just lovely food and the atmosphere is just great.

Although listed as an "attraction: here on TripAdvisor; this is in fact a great place to eat. Enjoyed good small plates lunch here, shared a pizza and did a little wine-tasting; this was all very good indeed. Its a huge space, with a view of the wine-producing equipment. There is also a counter selling bakery-items, wines, pastries and coffee-making equipment. The one negative was the after lunch coffee; my espresso was too bitter to drink, as was another we ordered.

Visited with friends for lunch. Busy day, but service and food quality were excellent. Even bought a case of wine on special. Not a huge variety of vegetarian options, but what were available was very acceptable. Outside dining on a good day.

We have bee to Innocent Bystander a few times and I must admit the food is always good. The service can be a little slow at times especially when the place is pumping on the weekends. We went there today for lunch on a Friday. The Salumi platters and the yummy home made bread as good as always, the lamb shank croquettes a favourite. Little disappointed with a thicker than expected crust pizza and a really sweet side salad but only minor things and not complaining. Will continue to go back for the great atmosphere, awesome food, great wines and beers and home-made pastries. The coffee is also very good for a place outside Melbourne CBD :-)

Located in the main street of Healesville they have good wine, best known for their Moscato. However the highlight of Innocent Bystander for me is the food, the ham and cheese baguette (easily shared by two). It can get very busy on the weekends so get in early for lunch or make a reservation, especially if you ant to sit on the veranda.Plenty of free parking.

Beautiful wines that are very easy to drink. The staff are friendly and really knowledgeable about their wines and surrounding regions. The food is yummy and more designed as a tapas style. Must do if in Healsville!

We booked for 1pm Australia Day and were seated at comfortable lounge chairs to wait for our table. A glass of 2102 Sangiovese filled the gap as we watched the crowds keep arriving and floor staff attending to everyone from couples like us to large groups. There was plenty of buzz. We selected Spicy Hummus and Lamb and Chicken, date and pistachio kofte. The former was paired with Turkish bread and while the hummus was not especially spicy the textural contrast was welcome and the dip interesting. The latter was served with cucumber yoghurt but had great flavour on its own. The dates provided lovely sweetness and the pistachio added crunch. Pizza is good here. Our choice was the Spicy pork sausage number with excellent buffalo mozzarella. Pesto and chilli added to the spice and flavour hit. Our bottle of 2013 IB Syrah was a good match. Coffee was strong but not bitter. After another very satisfying lunch we picked up a box 2011 Mea Culpa Shiraz.

We stayed in Healesville for a few nights and spent an evening at this excellent restaurant. We had a Tapas selection to share and they were very tasty. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Some of our party stayed on till closing and were treated to free bread and rolls from the bakery!

In the summer, on a weekend, make a reservation! We didn't and when we got there, there were no indoor seats for lunch until 3 pm. So we sat outdoors in a gale of a wind - not too pleasant. But good pizza and beer. Pricey as all meals in Australia seem to us Americans. A very nice shop inside for bread and cheese to take with you for the road - and to eat with the wine you buy in the Yarra!

Stopped here on a whim for saturday lunch during a leisurely drive. We got a pizza, fries and a baby octopus and chorizo salad. The pizza was delicious, fries good but the octopus and chorizo salad was outstanding! We dined outside in the sunshine and the service was fantastic. The meal was matched with a cheeky glass of moscato (only one due to driving) which resulted in some take home purchases. Its not often you stop in somewhere for lunch and wish this could be your local spot for a bite to eat. Awesome food, wine, service and atmosphere. We will be back soon to try other stuff on the menu and some of the cakes and breads on offer!

The service was fantastic and the waiting staff were knowledgeable about the product. After tasting two excellent drops, we opted for the magnificent Pinot Noir with three small dishes of food to share. Delicious!

We were staying for a few days nearby. We ate dinner one evening and had coffee and pastries a couple of times. I can agree with others that the truffle and Parmesan frites are not to be missed. The pizza was tasty, the bbq lambs ribs were very good as was the pork. Not massive servings but equally a very well priced menu. The bread butter pudding was definitely not to be missed if you have room. Lovely modern atmosphere with tables and chairs or sofas and comfy chairs, take you pick. Family friendly but good for grown ups too!

This restaurant (at Giant Steps) was certainly crowded and lively on a Sunday afternoon - which probably slowed the service a little. The hectic pace didn't detract from the quality of the dishes - with four different wood-fired pizzas being a stand-out, especially the cotechino sausage. Other favourites were the 'smaller bites' such as the chicken, date and pistachio kofte, and grilled morcilla sausage. The wine list also offered plenty of good choices.
