Hi John, thanks for sharing your experience! We’re glad you had such a good time at Healesville Sanctuary. We hope to see you back again soon; every visit helps fight wildlife extinction! Cheers, the Zoos Victoria team.

We did this as part of a Wildlife and Winery tour out of Melbourne. The word Sanctuary leaves one to think this is a safe haven for animals that have been rescued. This was presented to us to have all Australian animals and it certainly does. For those few animals we were not able to see in the wild during our month visit, we finally got to see here. A cute dingo pup. However, this is a zoo as far as we saw and in speaking with our dedicated ranger, they do exchange animals with other zoos and areas. The consider it a sanctuary because there are places the animals can go hide out of view. This was very rare, well that elusive adult dingo was hard to find, but we returned a couple hours later and he or she was out in view. You will no doubt see plenty of animals. Also there is a wallaby area where if there at feeding time, you may be able to try and feed them some carrots. They really weren't interested in the carrots but rather the food in the bins they were just given. We did see a wallaby and her infant joey in the pouch his little head sticking out that again, we finally saw. Its a very large zoo and seems to be well kept. The attractions there were many. We had a time limit so weren't able to see the bird show. We were very pleased with our visit to the "zoo."

as with everything here it's pricy. But at last something that really felt like value for money in Victoria. Great atmosphere, massive range of Aussie wildlife to see. Well worth a trip and don't miss the bird of prey exhibition.

What a great spot, only had 3 hours to spend but brilliant. Will come back again soon and take more time, pity the hospital section was closed, would have been interesting to see all the work going on behind the scenes.

One of the best attractions in the Melbourne area. We witnessed a bird of prey show, dingo's being walked, koala bears and baby koala, wombats and much more. All in a peaceful, walk-able setting.

The animals are number one at this sanctuary. We went in a quiet time when most kids were in school.

As avid travelers and travel writers we have seen many animal sanctuaries but we were more then thrilled with our experience at Healesville Sanctuary. They had two fantastic shows that we were able to watch 'Spirit of the Sky' and 'Tales from Platypus Creek' (the only Platypus show in the world). They were very well done, with humor, fun and we learned much from what they shared. Our daughter who is 17 loved every minute of the park as we meandered through the walkways of this beautiful forested sanctuary. There were many animals to see in their natural habitats while enjoying a relaxing and shaded walkway because of all the trees and foliage. Everything was clean and they offered a wide range of native animals to interact with. Our daughter specifically LOVED the Kangaroos. This was an excellent day and is perfect for anyone to enjoy the natural beauties of Australia.

An amazing must visit place. So many animals to see, in an environment so close to their natural environment. Different shows and talks to see throughout the day. The big bonus see being the baby wombat in the sanctuary hospital. Happy paying the ticket prices because you know the money is going to the care and protection of the countries native animals.

Excellent day out. I have now visited quite a few of these sanctuaries since being in Australia. And this was the best so far. The bird show is fantastic. Before I visited I read that you have to pay extra for experiences with certain animals. I hadn't had to do this at other parks and thought it might be a bit of a rip-off. After doing the kangaroo experience here I realised it is a much better experience for customers and for the animals themselves. At other places children (and idiot grown ups) are all grabbing at the kangaroos to try and get a good picture. But here keepers were on hand and the animals didn't seem distressed at all. The only thing I would recommend is getting there early in the day. We arrived at 1 pm and didn't get time to see all the animals. So make a day of it.
