Only 1.3kms off the main drag of Bendigo, the Broughton Arms came recommended to us by a local. The furniture looks a little nicer than your usual pub meal and its clear the place has had a recent renovation. The menu seemed a little more glamorous than the usual pub meal, with my husband (allergic to seafood and not liking the "funny stuff" (mushrooms, coriander etc)) struggling to find many options. On the other hand, I had no problems and my pork belly with coconut prawns and Thai salad was delicious.We didn't squeeze in desert but anyone who has eaten a little too much would be well rewarded with a quick storll around the block to let the food settle. Brilliant examples of the Bendigo domestic architecture and lace verandahs nearby.The only downfall was the waiting time, approximately an hour between ordering and our mains arriving, a little long.

The dining area has been recently renovated and is very classy whilst retaining the family friendly feel of your favourite local. The food from the award winning chef is both delicious and generous. Service is top notch and I left feeling the whole experience punched well above its weight.

I have visited the Brougham Arms twice this week once in the lounge & last night in the bar. I thoroughly enjoyed both meals as did the people I dined with. I will now be a regular at this pub & would like to praise their service too.
