Little Salmon Bay was beautiful, the water is so clear. The hop on and off bus stops here and it is a great place for a swim and to snorkel, then rather than wait for the bus walk to Salmon Bay, this is larger bay but beautiful to swim in, walk along the beach up to the lighthouse.

Salmon Bay is located on the southern side of Rottnest Island and is stop number 7 on the Rottnest Island explorer bus. This bay is an excellent choice when it comes to choosing a bay to enjoy on Rottnest Island. The bay is surrounded by a limestone ridge which offers some good levels of shade and shelter from the summer sun. The bay itself is well protected and not easily affected by incoming southerlies. The snorkelling is very good and many species of fish and corals can be observed within minutes of entering the water. If you find a shady spot you can easily spend hours here, however take note that it can get busy as it is a very popular spot on the island.

Beautiful and secluded take a detour off the bus or bike, take a dip in the water, snorkel as the water is crystal clear, they call this a Surf beach i didn't notice the waves in the section i detoured i did notice a current that pushes you diagonally towards the beach so you will be don't worry. These are my observations again its very difficult to document and remember a whole day at Rotto every Bay, every beach on the island is similar Crystal Clear water with snorkelling opportinuties it really doesn't matter where you go and what you do as long you enjoy your self. just pick a nice bay or beach at Rotto and you can spend most of your day, snorkelling seeing the fish under water etc... just remember to be back by the Settlement before your ferry departure otherwise i don't know what happens to people who miss the last ferry off the island and haven't obviously pre booked accommodation on the island, you might have to pitch up tent and camp outside with the Quokka's. there is a Fee to get on the island by ferry and free to view this attaction

I visited Rottness island, which is a small island, just a short ferry ride from Fremantle. I have been there on many occasions with my family & friends. I went snorkelling in Sal,on Bay, a beautiful coral reef, with crystal clear water & amazing tropical fish. Although be aware that on hot dry seasons, there are swarms of flies, which isn't pleasant.

The snorkelling was AMAZING! The beach is a long sweeping bay so plenty of room to find a quieter spot away from the larger family groups

The moment you step off a ferry, swarms of flies start attacking you. You will have flies in you mouth, ear canals, nostrils, under you sunglasses and on your eyeballs. They will bite every inch of your body.We had our bikes rented and thought driving fast or getting deeper into the island would help - nothing helps! Flies are everywhere, every bay, every road, every settlement, every corner of the place. You will be constantly patting yourself and waving your arms around. We had trouble driving our bikes with flies attacking us from every direction. The views are beautiful, don't get me wrong, but we couldn't even stop to take a photo because of those insects. We drove back to the ferry as fast as we could! There was no information on this problem prior to our trip. Complete disappointment.

Rottnest has plenty of natural attractions to please anyone. Great swimming cycling is easy and fun . We rode around the island enjoyed some fabulous beaches then took a break for lunch at the pub. I highly recommend a visit to Rottnest.

The absolute highlight of my trip to Perth. The weather was perfect for renting a bike and riding around the island. The only negative is that we weren't there for long. Would definitely recommend staying here a few nights!

I really enjoyed to snorkel there. The water was warm enough to swim and close to the beach there are several coral areas... colourful fish and corals

Incredible beach, warm blue waters and shaded from the wind. Could have stayed on this beach all day. Well worth a visit with a picnic.

why do none of these beaches have drinking taps anywhere!you cycle 2 hours to get here and by the time you get there in the heat your water is gone and boom nowhere to fill up so another 40 min cycle into the town other then that beautiful and a great snorkel spot!

Now why does'nt this beach make the top 10 beaches of the world? It is just stunning, mind you we had picture perfect weather. Had the added bonus of seeing a dolphin up close.

Don't miss the underwater snorkel trail and watch the coral reef and tropical fishes lead the way. Awesome place for a picnic lunch as well.
