I like waterfalls and this one was nice enough to get out of the bus and stretch our legs. The trail leads through a road next to some locals' houses and you can see how they love and cook in the open. One lady was cooking up a vat of Fava beans, and a loom was visible through an open door. The walk is cobble stones and it was not very comfortable walking on it. There is a bridge across the River where you can see the falls clearly. Then there are two trails. One leading up to a shelter for a closer, wetter view, and a steep trial to the start of the falls, but not for a better view. In fact, I climbed all the way up there and could only see the very beginning of the falling water, so don't bother, unless you want a workout for your thighs.

My wife and I took the bus from Otvalo (.25 each) to the entrance for the waterfall, just tell the driver that you want off at Cascada Peguche. When you arrive you will see a little village with mostly handicrafts and snacks for sale. You go through a small arch and follow the cobblestones to to the entrance of the Park where you will sign in. There is no fee but you can leave a donation. The path continues past a side trail down to a suspension bridge which is a nice view of the river and only about a five minute diversion. Back on the trail you will come to a "hot springs" off to the right. The pools are pretty but not hot. Another 10 minutes will bring you to the base of the falls. I don't recommend taking the steep stairs to the right of the falls unless you are just looking for a cardio workout. I did go up and when you get to the top, you really can't see the waterfall. There's a short path just past the bridge which takes you closer to the waterfall and another path before you get to the bridge that gives you another perspective of the waterfall after a short climb. My wife and I spent about an hour and a half in the Park, lots of tall trees, very serene.

As much as the waterfall is interesting, so is the walk to it through the small village with various vending booths, private dwellings and the ancient stone sundial display. A roasted pig was being prepared as we made our way through the village. Washrooms are available at the entrance where there is a little shop (hose and bucket for hand washing) for a 15 cent fee. Access to the waterfall is a stone, walled walkway with a bridge across the main part of stream at the bottom of the falls. You can climb a little higher, but it is a dirt incline that may be slippery and muddy. A sluiceway runs noisily beside the walkway as water rushes down, parallel to the falls. There is a third access to above the falls, but we didn't attempt to climb up. Be prepared to get wet if you do! Though the waterfall is not exactly Niagara Falls, the speed and the amount of water that comes down will impress you, and the 15 minute walk to it is very enchanting.

Not a very large waterfall. But is worth seeing. The short hike to the top of the waterfall was worth it. Though would not recommend it for everyone.

We walked from the town and it was a lovely easy walk and some interesting Indigenous Inca Indian caves nearby which have been turned into a museum which we toured also.

We enjoyed our walk through this little village to enjoy the waterfall. The area had lots of good signs and the waterfall worth the walk!

Very close to our hotel, easy walk through park area, also close to road if you're driving, a few kms outside Otavalo at Peguche.

Nice little waterfall and the trip out there was very nice and cozy where you meet the locals. But it is a good idear to arrange a taxi pick up.

I hire taxi to be there but This place you can go by bus if you have time to wait. You have to walk about 10 minutes to the waterfall. Near waterfall have hot spring , looks nice but not hot anymore. Waterfall is not big but nice.

This is a pretty waterfall. It's an easy walk up to it on a mostly paved trail. There are several spots you can go to to get good pictures closer to the waterfall.

We went here after visiting the Otavalo market, we were already exhausted. It is a great park with camping available. The waterfall is beautiful. You can plan to get sprayed a little depending on how close you want to go. Be ready to walk a bit from the parking lot. There is also a small touristic town offering the normal touristy nick-nacks and food. There is a sun dial. Our guide was not very good so we did not find out much about the sun dial or town. Pretty sure one of the restaurants serve ginea pig of your interested.

I enjoyed the walk to the fall. Like a number of places that are special in Ecuador, it was sad to see litter. I think they are trying to work on this. I enjoyed seeing the villagers. A man and his mother I believe, were cooking a guinea pig on a stick over a fire and were kind enough to offer us a taste. If you are in the area, I would go here.

This a very accessible waterfall in town that almost anyone could easily get to. It's quite photogenic, and there would be no reason to pass it by.

The waterfall is amazing! My group of friends found a perfect spot where we could get splashed by the waterfall but if it got too cold quickly retreat behind a rock structure. Aside from the waterfall, the route and small hike inside is very pretty; the lush vegetation and sounds of flowing water and birds were great. I went to Peguche by bus from Otavalo. The bus, ofcourse, did not directly take me there but you can certainly ask around for a bus to Peguche and mention to the driver to drop you off at a spot where you could easily get to the waterfall area.

The falls are gorgeous, but unless you are able to walk long distances on cobblestone road, be prepared! I have back, knee and foot problems and I thought I was going to die walking the LONG way back to the falls. The cobblestone road is winding, up and down hill and has to be at least a mile. Yikes! I did it with the help of my husband pulling me and several short rests and though it was a gorgeous waterfall, I would never do it again! The cobblestone is painful to walk on if you find uneven ground to be troublesome.
