If you like orchids don't miss the orchid exhibits at the botanical garden in the park. The park is huge so there is room for walking, running or just people watching.

If you are into photography and like to mingle with the locals Parque La Caroline is a good place. Very nice place to relax, have a picnic lunch or just watch the locals doing the same. Good place to photograph people, but be discreet and respectful. Lots to see and do. You can also spend some time at the Botanical Gardens located in the park. You will find tripadvisor reviews of the gardens also.

Located in the north side of Quito and with multiples shopping malls around it, as well as quite a few government institutions, this park is a great place to enjoy the afternoon. It doesn't matter if you go alone, with your loved one, friends or children. there is something for everyone from the boat in the small artificial lake, to the sport fields or from the food stands to the DC-3 plane where children can play a visit can always be fun. The place is also quite safe (during the day hours) and both, police and paramedics, usually bike around. If by any chance the weather is not good, you can also go to any of the shopping malls located around the park (such as Quicentro Norte, CSI, El Jarding, Caracol .... ) plus you are just 15 minutes away from the Iñaquito market where you can enjoy "hornado" (roasted pork).PROS: Location, activities, safety.... CONS: Not many

We go to this park on a regular basis for picnics and an escape from the busy city. There are plenty of places to play football (soccer), tennis, volleyball, and basketball. There are also areas that are left open and planted with trees (perfect for a walk or picnic). Overall, an awesome park in the middle of the city where one can find a little peace and silence (sort of silent).

People watching is particularly good on Sundays, when the park is full of life and activites of all sortsThe botanical gardens cn be visited all days, and has a particular nice collections of orchids and of carnivore plantsUnfortunately no information or signposting in English, and not even the people in the ticket counter could do more in English than point us to the sign with a map of the place. Still worth wandering around and admire the many plants and treesAdmission fee at the botanical gardens

This is a park full of joy, with spontaneous soccer games, children wandering, performances to smiling crowds, and a great variety of unstructured activities that somehow US people don't do much these days. The park has a number of interesting sculptures scattered over its breadth, and huge bell dedicated to peace in the world that anyone can climb up the steps and ring. Vendors abound, with the fruit cups and steamed corn very delicious. Embodies Quito's heart and good will.

It might be crowded on Sundays but it is full of life. Such a lovely walk around the old plane area. The old games to get candy from the shooting board show up from time to time.

Fun statues, slice of Quito life, skate/bike park with full pipe and spectators. Nice break in the urban scene.

Great park to be active ! They have a running oval, bike paths, work out equipment, volleyball nets, paddle boats and an awesome skateboard track. Lots of trees and a beautiful botanical garden which is $4 to enter.

The park is an oasis in noisy Quito. It is very large, well maintained and offers opportunity to run, jog, walk, play and exercise. It is also the location of a wonderful botanical garden. The exhibit of orchids is unique. Some are so rare, that lifting them comes with a very heavy fine. Birding is also good in the area

the park itself is very nice. Lots of green space and walking or biking space. But I was disappointed with he botanical garden. First the price itself of 3.50$ each is too much for what is to see. They need to clean the plants and flowers. Have less but more of a wow when we see them. Right now too much and not taking care of.

We didn't expect to see so many nice handcraft items there, we strolled through the venders and wanted to buy some of these unique items. You'll also find food stand, grills and outdoor performers.

Has all the basic needs for residents and tourists to recreate themselves, and plenty of fields to play football (soccer) on.

We strolled the Parque on several occcasions. We enjoyed the paddle boats with our grandson. There are some food service areas. On the weekend, the place is jammed with families and it is wonderful place to get a feel for Quito. Many sports and games, lots of food vendors, some open air shows. We were warned never to go there at night.....sensible advice I'd say.

For naturalists and plant lovers the Quito Botanical Garden and the Vivarium are an extremely fine way of spending an afternoon. It hosts planting areas from each of the varied ecological regions of Ecuador. Large greenhouses showcase Ecuador's spectacular native orchids. Admission is a couple of dollars. Don't leave Quito without having enjoyed some time here.
