It's the largest and most elegant church in Asunción and it definitely deserves a visit. It is alos close to other attractions such as the Cabildo, the Plaza Uruguaya, the Government Palace and the Congress.

We stopped here on our way to the Presidential Palace on a Sunday and there was a solemn Catholic Mass being held at the time. It was impressive to see the believers sang along and follow all the rites out of memory.

This is a historical cathedral near downtown Asuncion, and the colonial style is very interesting and beautiful to see!!

You could pretty much see the Cathedral, Theater, Government Palace, Legislative building ,and Avenida Costanera in one day. Good architecture but I have seen better cathedrals in my travels throughout the world. Just remember it is one of the highlights in the city of Asuncion and it may be something you don't want to miss.

It's lovely. When we arrived, Mass was already in progress so we waited to photograph the Statues and Altars. It is worth the visit. Absolutely wonderful.

The inside of the Catedral in interesting enough. For a Catedral I actually expected more, but worth a visit. Only open at services

Right in centre, large catedral. Nothing special about though worth a visit. Entre from side entrance.

This is worth a visit. Not always open, but a beautiful old church with lots of character and history. Enjoy the colonial architecture.

It's a very nice looking church right in the middle of down-town just a short walk from the river so you're bound to come across it. Unless you're fanatical about churches it's only really worth walking past between other stops.

This is one of the most beautiful churches in Asuncion. Unfortunatly it is often locked so you can't go inside. It is within walking distance of many other sites in Asuncion.

We stopped by the Cathedral, you really can't miss it anyway. The gates were locked so unfortunately we could not take a look inside. Would have loved to see what the interior was like as this is the premier site in the city along with the government palace. We got great photos as the Cathedral is very picturesque. It was worth a look.

Nice decorations but nothing special. On main road, not surrounded by greenery. Spacious inside. An oasis from the noise and heat. Opening hours are unreliable.

A Catedral not so luxurious as other in Latin America but charged of history, surrounded by other historical places and near to the river and Chacarita neighborhood

I was dying to see this church from the inside, but unfortunately it was closed on the Sunday I spent in Asuncion. There were very few people outside that day but I took some good pictures of the church, and because of a missed attraction like this I am returning to Asuncion in January 2012. This church is worth the effort and is worth a visit
