What can I say about Bonete. First time I was there I was about 12 years old. Bonete is not only a beach. It's the whole community that makes it a really special place. If you are in Ilhabela, I highly recommend you trek there and spend a few days with the community. Be prepared for the Borrachudos (little mosquitoes that drink blood).

Where: Praia do Bonete-next to popular Castelhanos on Ilhabela one of the little gems! This is a surfer's escape, azure waters, great temps, four Pousadas should you choose to stay. Yes, there is a nice little bar/restaurant next to the beach with fresh fish, cold suco (juice) and beer. This is a less commercial area with tons of nature and tranquility to offer. How: you have a choice. I have hiked it and traveled by boat as well. Hiking: small back pack, decent tennis or day boot, just water and a snack and some $R for the bar. this is an open trail with the exception of two small pieces with stone. Three hrs and a little. There are two small water fall pools to cool off in with incredibly clear water. You could start at the trail head on a good day early , hit the beach by lunch at the latest, swim, relax-choose to stay or calculate to come back during daylight. You can also very cheaply grab one of the local fishermen/weather wind permitting and return by boat. This is a one hr or so return in a good fiberglass (modern) skiff. Boat- you can again for about $75 ( US if alone)much cheaper if there are three or four of you going back-return to town via fisherman. If you would like to come and go by boat call Maremar Turismo before your trip to see if they have a launch or other boat going that way for a day with a group. They have many land and water tours to choose fromThe water view of the cliffs and coast are beautiful. yes each beach here has insect life but compared to Castelhanos, I did not have as much issue because the restaurant allows you to be elevated off the beach and swimming was fantastic! Just bring repellent. This indeed is a piece of heaven. well worth the visit-ask any local!

The beach is stunning, with a local village of fishermen. But be careful to plan how to go back...if the see is agitated boats can leave and you might end up having to sleep there with the "borrachudos" - plan to arrive early on time to go back walking before the sunset (4-5 hours walking)

Bonete is my little piece of heaven.. When I moved to the island, it was one of the first places I went to and it surpassed all my expectations. There are only two ways to get there, by foot or by boat. The latter is faster, only takes about an hour depending on where you board, but it is expensive. By foot, it is an average 3-4 hour trail, perhaps a bit more if you are not accustomed to hikes and uneven terrain. But the trail itself is a thing of beauty! You cross three waterfalls before arriving at the beach, giving you the perfect chance to cool off and chill out in the crystal clear water before continuing your hike. The first waterfall has a bridge crossing over it, so no hassle, however the second one has none so you cross it with water normally up to your knees and the third one has a natural bridge made from large rocks you can just walk across (I know this review is about Bonete, but to me, the trail is part of the whole Bonete experience). Once you've reached the last peak, you have this breath taking view of Bonete below. And then its another hike down to reach the beach.. Bonete itself is a small fisherman community, with little over 300 locals and it one of the oldest communities on the island. They live of off tourism and fishing, and also live a very simple lifestyle. Up until recently they had no electricity (they received a generator by donation that works certain hours of the day) and their water comes directly from the waterfalls. There are a few B&B's to chose from, all depends on your budget. The most exclusive one is Pousada Canto Bravo and the one I like to go to most is Pousada da Rosa, the first b&b to open in Bonete. It used to be Rosa's house, and slowly she started building extra rooms and turning it into the charming b&b it is today. The rooms are quite comfy, the double beds have mosquito nets and there is electricity during a certain time. She is also an amazing cook, so be sure to book a dinner with her too! If you're more into camping, there two camp sites that have bathrooms, showers and kitchens and aren't expensive at all. The beach itself is long and offers plenty of chill out spots, be it under the shade of the trees or close to where the river meets the ocean, providing a natural swimming pool perfect for children and just lazying around. If you walk up through the village, you will see signs leading to the deepest part of the river, perfect for snorkeling and late night swims, if you're into that sort of thing. A very important reminder: everything must be paid in cash. There are NO credit or debit card machines, so plan ahead your expenses and take extra just in case.. Also, don't plan to visit if there is heavy rains or bad weather forecasts. The trail becomes closed off due to the spate rivers and boats cannot go to and from Bonete. Overall, is it a MUST SEE place if you visit this already exquisite island. Don't miss out!

Ok first off, Daniel is a good guide and speaks English. He even made a detour to pick us up as close as possible to our pousada. The whole trip and this beautiful beach are definitely worth the time and money. I've never seen such a nice spot before. The unique thing about is that you are pretty far from roads and other tourists. You are more or less on your own with the other participants in Daniels group.Sit on the left hand side of the boat when going to bonete and take a jacket as it can get kind of windy during the boat ride. The only thing which needs a little improvement is the caipirinha. It didn't taste good and was a bit too strong. At least it is served in a glas.On the right side of the beach you can walk up to a higher spot and take nice photos. The path is not visible at first sight, but you actually can't miss it.

Quiet beach at the very south of Ilhabela. No road goes this far, that means less people, noise and dirt. The easy hike takes about four hours. You can sleep at a pousada in Bonete, hike back or return by boat (expensive!).

With a 1 hour ride by flexboat u can arrive in this amazing beach. I found it breath taking. You can have some very nice food at the bar by the beach (although they have just fried food).Bring money with you, because they don't accept card for payments.BUY CITRONELLA BASED REPELLENT and apply non stop. I used OFF and I have 76 bites (no kidding!!!) and the pharmacist told me citronella repellent are better, even though nothing is 100% proof against this little monsters. If you get bitten (you can spot it immediately, but it won't start feeliing itchy until hours after), go immediately to a pharmacy and buy cream and anti allergic. It's unbearable, last for days and can leave scars if you scratch!

This is a very interesting at many levels. First, for its legend of the WWII; for its long, white powdery sandy beach which ended on a shallow, ice-cold stream. You can either wade up the stream or row a small inflatable up to the mini waterfall nearby. (10 mins).Bonet can be reached by boat (about 1 - 1.5 hr away from the Ferry ) on a very calm day (it is located on unprotected open ocean side of the island).Local fishermen community grew recently and food is offered at a small restaurant right on the beach. ( I did not go ...so no comment). Most of the year, it is a very quiet and clean beach. Landing can be very rough if the sea is not completely calm.

The beach can be reached only by boat or by bike. It is gorgeous. There is a really nice restaurant with fresh Brasilian food. Worth to see!

It is difficult to get to Bonete - a boat ride that can only be attempted in calm seas - but it very isolation makes it unique. Long beautiful beach sorrounded by mountains and the Atlantic Rainforest with a friendly native fisherman community. A snack bar (run by the locals) is available.

Hive la caminata de 112,5Km por la selva. Me llevo 3,30hs.

A trilha é fácil porém extensa. Mas tem muitos atrativos no caminho. (Cachoeiras, mirantes...).
