A charming Christmas decoration, even with fake snow! The childrens really loves this feature. The restaurants serves akind of brazilian-german food. Some are good, others not so good. The baked potato with a vegetarian filling is very, very good. You can choose from commercial beers or local brewed beers. You find lots of souvenirs shops. Its a fun place to stay for an hour or two. The food is not cheap, but you pay for being in a german atmoshpere in a tropical country.

Don't bother going here unless you want over priced food and drink and souvenirs. The best time to go would be for Oktoberfest.

The Oktoberfest in Blumenau is quite interesting to meet. You'll find a own Brazilian interpretation of the original fest in Germany. The Vila Germanica is kind of big, but you'll find everybody in a turn, since the place is closed and the entrance is restricted. Now about my "but". The prices are exorbitant and the food is from ok to awful. Don't go with the intention to have a contact with the German culture of food. You're not going to find it in there. Either the sausages aren't good as the German ones, or they "invented" something (like a baked potato with some kind of sauce) and say it's "typical german". In the oder hand is the parade really nice and funny to see. It starts around 4pm and goes till 6pm. It's much funnier and "aliver" than the German one. If you're are in to party, you should go with the intention to stay till after midnight, but go as early as you can, because around 8 it starts to get really crowded at the entrance. The tickets you can buy online (I recommend it! ). As I said, I nice place to go if you're in south Brazil at the time, but not necessarily a number one travel destination. Ps. Sorry for my bad English.

We returned this year again. The OcktoberFest party is even better then it was in 2012. This time we went in a 7 people trip. 4 adults - I, my wife, my father and his wife, and my three kids (12, 7 and 4 y.o.). We went to the Vila Germanica just after the Parade. My wife went by taxi with the two youngest and the rest of us went by bus. We arrived at the same place, 15 minutes later, half price for the group. It´s not a great deal, because it is very cheap from the center to the party, about USD10, but it´s a unique oportunitie to talk woth natives.WE LOVED.

We went without kids because we wanted to party with no worries. And things were amazing! It was the best couple trip ever! I saw families there and seem to be great to kids and families as well. But the idea of this trip was drink beer till drop. If you want this you can buy tickets to drink sold by a bunch of 10 rounds, you get the mug as well. The city evolves around the festival and you can drink anywhere. The Vila Germanica is amazing. Different stages, sell food, gifts and for sure beer. Everything very respectful. You can see families, young people, couples and seniors. All f them having fun, dancing and singing. If you show up dressed like a German you get the admission free.

Really good beer, food and music :)Recommended as a family trip and as a 'party with friends' trip. Oktoberfest is a 'must do' in Blumenau!

Vila Germanica is known by its Oktoberfest that happens during 2 weeks of October. I went there once and spent some of the best parties I've been in my life. People are so happy and are dancing and singing in German all the time. Even if you don't have German roots, the fun is guaranteed. One problem? Crowded and lines and more lines to the restrooms.

It is a decent place to eat (around 6 options) and some stores that sell local handcraft articles. Spend around 2 hours in one of the best attractions in Blumenau. Sure, lacks parking places, but has a fair public transportation options (taxi and bus).

We were in Munich to see other attractions and so spent part of an afternoon at Oktoberfest which is the world's largest fair held. We bought tickets, wandered around for a while, looked into the tents and watched some of the amusement rides. We had decided not to go the 1st weekend, since we had been told that it would be mobbed. There were certainly plenty of people but, in such a huge space, you could move about easily. Another traveler had suggested we go to the Oide Wiesn tent which they said was more staid for middle aged couples such as us. It was a good idea. At least in the afternoon, there were plenty of seats. The band was playing & groups were performing dances. Food selection is limited & rather expensive but the beer was great. It was fun seeing the women in dirndls & the men in lederhosen. This is a wonderful place to say "I've been there!"

This is the place for the Annual beer festival (Oktoberfest). The festival in Blumenau is the second largest Oktoberfest in the world, losing in public only to the Muchen Oktoberfest.Worth visiting the place during the first 3 weeks of Oktober.

We went to the Vila Germanica on low season so a lot of things were closed. We experienced traditional food there, which was ok but not great. Staff was poor. If you know another restaurant in town, don't bother to go there.

It's a beautiful touristic place with some stores and restaurants. It's a really nice spot to drink some beers and watch people walk by. Everything here is Germany-Brazilian. Worth the visit.

nothings here is german and nothing is brazilian, but everything, including the music and the beer is a mix. a real challenge for the open minded!

Once a year Blumenau city hosts a great party Brazil's Oktoberfest. It lasts about two weeks. The celebration starts at 11am on weekend days and goes for 5am. There are four simultaneos shows in the pavillions. For kids there are an extra area Kidshaus. If you are a party guy come after 11pm. You have a lot of different beer brands/types (more than 30). At about $3,5 (usd) peer dose. Negative point they serve you in plastic cup. BUT you can buy an alluminium or glass one and drink on it. It is a well expended money.Other nice thing to do is to come in a party custom as Fritz (man) or Frida (woman) you spent about $80 to 120 (usd) in a basic custom but you get free ticket for the party. It's a $10(usd) economy per day and 30minutes less lanes for ticket buying.Bring money, not all places accept plastic money.Take a lot of pictures.Come by taxi- it is allmost the same price to come by car, the parking lots are very expansive and by taxi you do not need to worry about policr fiscals catching alcahool abuse. After 1am everybody is drunk, but I saw no fight nor confusion. The party organization acts fast so no one gets disturbed.

We went there on a Sat evening and most of the shops were closed. Still, there are several restaurants and bar with a wide variety of beers and affordable starters and meals.
