We really enjoyed the sheep herding and shearing demonstration, as well as drinking the strong coffee, made from putting ambers rolled in sugar in the coffee pot. It was delicious! Also a great meal of grilled meats and organic vegetables from their own greenhouse. The folkloric show after the meal was very well executed.

We really enjoyed our visit to Estancia 25 de Mayo. The evening started with mate and tortas fritas followed by coffee prepared in a tradition manner. A demonstration f sheep herding on horse back with a dog assisting. This was followed by a demonstration of traditional sheep shearing. Then a walk by a stream where we drank wine and tried a traditional lamb dish. We then walked through a small greenhouse and the owner explained how they use the various home grown herbs in the restaurant. Back to the estancia for a short film on the history of the estancia followed by a traditional 3 course dinner plus a folkloric show. As we had ordered a bottle of wine with our dinner and were not ready to go back to our hotel when the transfer bus arrived, we stay in the restaurant and were treated to another how by great musician that lasted about an hour and a half. We finished the evening with coffee and a taxi ride back to the hotel.

The grounds are just on the edges of town, so you can't feel really like in an estancia. Nice demonstration of sheep shearing and short show of a gaucho rounding the sheep herd with a border collie. Also, bottle feeding of a calf and of a lamb to satisfy the urban crowd. The staff was very friendly but speaks little English (i.e. 90% of the talk is in Spanish and only 10% in English). The food was pretty nice (appetizers & a small glass of wine by the creek, then a salad bar, lamb on the spit, sausages, desserts in the restaurant) but wine was extra. The show is pretty short (20 minutes maybe) and nothing special really (one musician, 2 dancers). For what amounts to basically US$100 for two, you would expect more and the wine should definitely be included.

I have enjoyed the atmosphere and people in Estancia a lot. The Pancho, the owner/artist told a lot of stories about Patagonia and life of the people there : both past and current. It was also supported by the live demonstration of sheep shearing. At the end cordero patagonico was served for dinner - we also saw how it is made in the very beginning. Also nice to see the domestic animals from very near!!

Very nice half day tour right next from the city center. Kids loved it. Horse rides, sheeps, wine tasting and wonderful surroundings. Very friendly staff.

Nice and well organized tour that delivered exactly what we expected.Located within El Calafate city limits, the Estancia tour provides a nice folklore show, a good Patagonian lamb dinner, a shepherd dogs short demo and a speech about the history of the place.Well presented and no glitches.Would have preferred a less city and more countryside Estancia, but even so the tour was definitely worth taking.

We enjoyed the sheep shearing & learning about the ranch in a group but the thing that really stood out for us was riding a horse down by the lake. We organised to go back the next day for private horse riding (very reasonably priced) - we went for a ride with the owner of the Estancia who was very helpful giving us instruction as we are beginners. After 30 minutes we were racing around the most wonderful natural setting we have ever seen - its just spectacular with the mountains in the background behind the turquoise lake, condors soaring overhead, hares dashing across the ground and all the time the sheep dogs following your horses. Thanks very much!

I was not sure what to expect from this tour--fauna, history, sightseeing. I had hoped to see animals but didn't want to get my hopes up.The tour was small--only four people plus the tour guide. The guide was bilingual and made sure to translate what we didn't understand. We traveled in a Jeep Cherokee 4x4--the road was primitive and the 4x4 was definitely needed in some areas. Our guide stopped to explain the reason for estancias, how people got the land, and other parts of the history of the area. As he drove and talked, he was constantly on the lookout for fauna. We saw herds of guanaco (smaller llamas) and rhea (smaller ostrich). We also saw many birds, frogs, and a condor. Each time we saw something, our guide attempted to explain about it as much as possible. We were able to see a gaucho working and learned what their job entails and how their lives really do revolve around their horse and the land.Getting out and walking the land was exciting as we saw fossils and saw what the glaciers had left. Learning the history of the land was as exciting as exploring it.

A mejorar.
