This cathedral looks really beautiful, and the interior beauty far exceeds the exterior. But apparently no ones allowed to enjoy it. I was immediately approached by a man sitting in a chair after entering. He made a big fuss about my hat despite the fact that all the women were wearing shawls over their heads. Then he began yelling and pointing at the floor when I tried to walk deeper into the interior of the cathedral. Obviously you're not allowed to walk more than 10 feet inside the door. Then he began making a big deal babbling something about my camera after I took it out to take some photos. If you really don't feel like being patronized then don't waste your time going here. I never understood religious fanatics. They talk about how great their religion is, but as soon as you show any interest in it you're immediately ridiculed and belittled for it.

it has a long history, situated in the city centre and in the evening you must have seen it from the hill - the view is amazing

Even full of people at prayer, it was a beautiful place. So many pieces of history on display. No I am not an Orthodox person. Still you could feel at peace and know God was close by. It was too dark for inside pictures, but it is worth the stop to see it!

Great and magnificent view to Annunciation Cathedral opens up from the place where people observe the panorama of the western part of the city, it is not far from Terraced Park. The first church of the Blessed Virgin Mary Annunciation was founded in 1655. But the one you can see nowadays has been constructed nearly 100 year ago by architect Lovtsov. The height of bell tower is approximately 80 meters. The Cathedral is capable of holding 4000 people.

Annunciation Cathedral is one of the largest Orthodox Churches in the world, and features countless relics of Saints, and former leaders of the Church in Kharkov, which is one of the oldest Slavic cities. It's worth visiting both to see the relics as well as to admire the massive beautiful architecture of the Church. The liturgies are also extremely beautiful.
