Its construction started in 1585 and it is a very impressive tower some 7 stories high on the town side and it is in good condition.The side facing the river is semi circular. It is one of the largest gates as this corner was considered most likely to be attacked. It has a long vaulted passageway through part of the tower and due to the effect of the wind passing down the passageway the gated entrance is known as Windy Gate. Its proper name is Vitrriana Brama. It was built using funds collected by the furriers in the town so it is called Kushnirs'ka Tower after them. On the opposite side of the passageway to the Tower is the the Turkish Bastion. Growing on the walls overlooking the river is one plant which is protected in Ukraine and it is hindering any restoration work in this area.The road to the tower from the old city area is cobblestone so good walking shoes are suggested.

Башня фотогеничная очень, выглядит просто потрясающе. Мощное фортификационное сооружение, покоряющее своей древностью. Согласно постановлению Совета Министров УССР от 23 марта 1956 года она внесена в реестр памяток республиканского значения.

Шикарная башня! Стоит в некотором отдалении от центральных площадей, потому людей вокруг очень немного. Несколько лет назад нам повезло и мы "в дырку" пролезли внутрь башни. Не знаю, может сейчас наш лаз давно заделан, потому выкладываю для любопытных фотографии. Башня нуждается в реставрации.
