The cave is huge and really impressive. If you are around it is definitely worth the visit. I've never seen anything like this before.

I visited the Devetashka Cave in June this year. This is an ancient cave inhabited by a great number of bats. Great surrounding and I highly recommend to visit and see the place.

I dislike caves in general as I have a mild claustrophobia. But this cave ( at least its entrance) is so big and the rock arches so high, that I did not have problems. The openings allow sunshine and plants grow within it.The whole area is very unusual and picturesque. The problem is that only a very small portion is opened to visitors because of the bats which live there and which need protection. We saw two little bats but I suppose there are much more inside. Alas, visitors cannot see them.

Impressive cave. The part that is possible to visit is just awesome. Almost like from another planet. It is just a pity that the rest of the cave is closed due to the hibernating bats that live there. At least it was when I visited.

This is really a beautiful cave, although most of it is closed. Easy to explore even for kids. It would be good to have a guide there, otherwise I don't see a reason to collect a fee for visiting the cave.

Interesting cave formation just a couple of km of the road to the Maarata Waterfall when travelling from Lovech. Well worth the detour. Massive cave with roof as high as 100m in places. Makes you realise how insignificant we are in relation to nature. Easy access (short walk) with surface suitable for most people with some mobility problems

The deviation from the main road is just 2 km east of the junction to Devetaki village. Landmark the right - a stack of abandoned steam plant. A brown plate shows the fork on the road. An entrance fee before the new bridge. Second option: Turn on the road to the village Devetaki. After 2 km will see a sign to the left of the road. Take the tourist trail and descend down to the cave. There is no fee, but you'll have to climb back. The trail is 30 minutes, the displacement is 100 meters.

After seeing a picture of this cave, I've planned a trip to visit it. The cave is situated close to the city of Lovech but getting there may be a bit tricky if you cannot read Cyrillic, in order to understand all the signs. Unfortunately, Google navigator seems to be not so accurate in that area, helping us to get lost a couple of times :). Fortunately, it was not a big issue to finally find our way. Don't quit visiting the cave just because you may waste a few minutes trying to find you way. It really worth it :). Devetashka is impressive! If you find yourself in the area, you may want to go to Krushunski waterfall too. It is at a short drive away and it is not to be missed.

After reading about this cave a few years ago I've always wanted to visit. Finally, we were in the right area this summer. The cave is easy to find, just a couple of minutes of the main road past and well signposted. There is a small charge to enter but we were lucky enough that the man at the gate didn't ask for anything off us. We expected a bit of a walk from the car park to the cave so we were very surprised that after a very easy 5 minute walk we were there. The cave is easily accessible even for people with mobility issues. Some areas of the cave were cordoned off due to the breeding bats but this did not effect our enjoyment. The cave was very busy with a coach of visitors and a large school group there at the same time as us but the cave is large so it wasn't over crowded or noisy. I would recommend visiting if you are in Bulgaria

I saw this cave in a magazine on the plane over to Sofia and decided at that point to add this cave onto our road trip list for our holiday immediately. Relatively difficult to find so have your route planned out. When we got there we were mesmerised by the sheer scale of this beautiful cave. A brilliant place to take in all of nature's glory! The only shame is that the expendables film set has had a negative impact on the wildlife there. Certainly worth a visit though!

The cave itself is not easy to spot from the road, but when you get inside you are amazed at how big it actually is. There is a small house near the entrance,so it hits you right away. The rays of the Sun,that come through the holes in the cave's ceiling make it even more beautiful. You can spot many different species of bats and further inside there are ruins, that are also interesting. You can only visit the cave during a 4 month period,I believe,so make sure you check before you go.

I’ve heard a lot about this cave even before the movie was made. This time when we were visiting Bulgaria we decided to go there. It is absolutely unique place. We’ve seen a lot of underground caves in USA and Bulgaria, but this is one of a kind. The cave is the home of many different spices of bats and other animals, the sign was showing that there are 45 kinds of animals. Only part of the cave is accessible. Great place to visit, but limited times to visit; as far as I remember June thru September (please check before you head there, I saw a sign in front of the cave with this information). There is a short walk from the place where you can park (this is not a parking lot, just a dirt road) right before the bridge, the fee was very small. We also visited the Krushunski Waterfalls, they are not far from the cave, may be 20 km or less. On the way to the cave we saw lots of other signs for waterfalls, but we didn’t go… Great place for pictures! This is the site that you can read more if you are interested: http://bulgariatravel.org/en/object/355/Devetashka_peshtera

It is an unique cave because in comparison to all Bulgarian caves, Devetashka Cave is an open one. The height between the ground and the top roof is some 50-60 m, there are big wholes on the top of the cave where the sun penetrates from, and for this reason it is not as cool as in other caves. It became relatively famous after The Expendables 2 shooting scenes. There is a huge population of bats in here. A lovely, lovely place! It is also not far away from Krushunski Waterfalls, so the two sites can be visited in one day.

Devetashka cave (Devetashkata peshtera) is a huge natural cave with quite a history and some curious contrasts. The cave can be reached either via the old trail starting from the mountain road to Devetaki village, or via the restored bridge, a former railroad bridge which was rebuilt for the movie 'The Expendables 2'.From the bridge you get a beautiful view over the Osam river. On a nice day you can see the fish jumping and turtles sunbathing on fallen branches.Inside the caves, there is small stream to the left, and gaping holes in the ceiling shed light on the water and patches of green. To the right is a man-made wall encircling a storage space were 3 large circles on the ground witness the past presence of big cisterns for stocking oil.In the back it leads further into the (non-accessible) cave system that penetrates the mountainside and is home to bats.Be sure to visit on a sunny day when plenty of light can enter, and visit the Maarata falls too, they're just 20 km away.

The cave is absolutely a place which everybody must visit! There are no words to explain the energy inside! And the nature outside! :) There is no information sign on the main road so you can not find it easy but if you ask somebody it is possible to find it! This is the only one bad thing there !
