Marjan hill and woods will allow you a great walk and view on town. There used to be a zoo before, frankly I do not know if it works now as conditions were horrible. But on a way you can find other small gems along the path.

From Marjan Hill you will have a beautiful view of Split. Walking there is a good experience also, it is not hard, it takes like 15 minutes.

We only went here for a couple of hours on our last day, but what a lovely escape from the busy city. Beautiful, relaxing and lovely. If back in Spilt will spend at least a day there!

Walking on Marjan hill takes you around 20-30 minutes from the city centre, but is totally. The view on the city and Riva harbor is just breathtaking!

Visited here in October 2014. Loved the food. Loved the ambiance. Travelled along with my wife on a Business trip. Service was prompt and the food delicious

Wonderful trails offer great views over Split and over to Ciovo. Paths are well sign-posted and it's a peaceful setting.

It's nice to walk around in the Old Town of split, but when you get a hankering to be out in nature, to breathe the fresh air, to get some exercise and fabulous photos, you don't have far to walk. The big park on the far end of Split, at the end of the Peninsula, is worth spending a day exploring. There are multiple trails for walking, jogging, running and amazing views of the town itself, the rocky coastline, small inviting beaches and multiple little churches. Keep in mind you do have to climb up to get the good views, but the trails themselves flatten out for the most part for the majority of the trails from end to end. If you have a clear day in Split, I highly recommend a walk in Marjan...and don't forget your camera!

Marjan is a huge park to the west of Split old town. It is a bit of walk to get there and a bit of a walk to go all around it, but if you like rocks and trees and sea and cicadas and sunbathing, you will like Marjan. See old town for sure. But after you're done there (or "done"), get out of the city and soak up some really beautiful nature, why not?

This is the best place to see the whole city. Best is just to walk up to the first lookout point where is the Cafe "Vidilica" where you can get a refreshment, a soft drink, glass of wine or a cocktail and make some great pictures. I suggest walking further up to the small medieval church and continue at least up to the ZOO that is planned to be moved to other place, so don't miss it. If it is a sunny or rainy day it is worth visiting!

We only travelled as far as the cafe, but it was a delightful place to enjoy a glass of wine and the views. Good wine only 10 kuna (less than $2). The walk itself, mostly stairs, is charming and shaded.

My guess is that most folks don't get too far past the restaurant. Walk the whole peninsula, on a sandy track, and see a zoo, playground, arboretum, medieval chapels, and hermitages built into caves on the hillside. A lovely way to spend an afternoon. Views are spectacular.
