We visited the Island of Pag during the Electrobeach Music Festival this summer. We didn't even know there was a festival going on - all we knew is that people in Dubrovnik kept talking about Pag and Zrce beach and that it was a must. We luckily found an apartment to rent in Stara Novalja for 3 nights. We loved it SO much that we wanted an extra night so we found another apartment (all at reasonable costs I must add) and extended our stay for one more night.I say it's better than Ibiza because you get the true feeling of how it is to party until sunrise. All of the clubs are right on the beach. You party outside with the best people, watching the best DJ's, watching people bungee jump in the darkness above the water and you party until the sun rises right before your eyes. It is unreal and just such a fun experience. We went to Papaya every single night and couldn't get enough. Once the clubs close at 8AM you grab some disgusting food that's being sold outside of the clubs and you sit on the beach. You can nap, swim, chill with friends you made that night until you decide to go to your apartment, hostel or whatever it may be to change into your bathing suits and go tan on one of the magnificent crystal clear beaches that Pag has to offer.

I visited Zrce during Italian music festival, Barrakud. I would describe the place as beautiful and breath taking. Sunset above the mountains and sea. Stony beach, lots of attractions, amazing place to spent time during the day and night. The only issue was travel from Novalija(were I stayed during my visit) to Zrce beach. It was taking aprox.15min on a bus, cost 15kunas one way. Unfortunately buses were the old school buses with no air conditioning. During the day buses were quite empty so it wasn't a big deal, but at the evening not only you had to queue, sometimes for over 30 min to get on the bus, but they were totally full, everyone was sweaty (temp usually still around 25-30*c at that time),each night we were squashed and obviously most of co travelers were already under influence, a lot of singing was going on(that was a fun part). That was the only issue I had during my stay as it was the least pleasant journey to beautiful Zrce beach.

This is one of those "one of a kind" places where you can experience inexperienced. Zrce beach is a wild beach located on so call "like a moon" island that offers you rarely seen beautyes of nature. Together with that on Zrce has created blend of modern musical entertainment productions, an oasis of dance, fun, love and delight. First time I've been on Zrce beach is back in 2004 and since than I'm coming back every year. With sun, clean sea and great music is like no stress zone to me. I heartily reccommand it to everybody who's in love with music and sea because Zrce beach really makes me feel like true taste of summer ;)

charming and lovely. with the most amazing djs. what more could you ask for. although the food is awful

Came here the last day of August and it absolutely pissed it down. Music was terrible, staff fairly rude, pricy drinks and shall measures. I'd have been even more annoyed if we'd had to have paid to get in (all the clubs were free that night). Having said all that I reckon if the sun had been shining and they had a decent DJ on (like they do for sonus) then it could have been banging in there.

A bus will drop you from the main town of Novalija its about a 10min journey which is handy.Stoney beachDuring the day: The beach is packed with mainly young people 18-40. The food is terrible at the bars/and stands or you'll pay expensive for something decent. Drinks are as expected. The clubs have after beach parties which a great fun in the main clubs. Water sports are also on offer.During the Night: The clubs don't really fill up till 1/2am. Some are free in others not. Drinks are expensive as you would expect but a great buzz and atmosphere about the place.

For all those youngsters out there, this is the party island. Lots of young people having a blast and entrance to the clubs is FREE!!!If youre in the island of Pag dont miss this island..Remember it only awakes late so rest during the day....

I suggest this beach just after 6 pm for having fun in the discos and in the bar close to the beach.I don't advise anyone to go in this place to swim or play inside the water. If you go there, you could understand why I write this.

This place is amazing for party lovers that would party until the next day. The clubs are amazing and the crowd are not bad at all. Everyone would have fun here there djs are good and the drinks are amazing. The beach parties are from mornings till 9 pm. The place is safe so you dont need to be worried if your gonna get robbed. You have cheap food out of the clubs which is pretty decent. The drinks inside the clubs however are pretty expensive. The best choice is to buy the large cocktails which costs around 100-180 kunas. You also don't need to worry about busses going to the center. There are buses coming and going every 15 min. And you pay 10 kuna and you will be dropped in the center.

Me and the girls decided to check out Croatia this summer and I really struggled finding out information about Zrce beach and Novalja before coming – so if you were in the same boat as me.. hopefully here’s the tell all review!Where to stay – Initially we couldn't work out why there weren't really any places to stay in Zrce, everyone stays in Novalja and gets the local bus (I’ll come to that in a bit) to the beach and party area. There are some really nice apartments – we stayed in Vila Novak which had huge balconies overlooking the bay, but everywhere is pretty close to the sea front. Just make sure you have aircon!Getting to Novalja – We came from Zadar airport which is the closest. It’s a 1.5 hour journey which will cost you 79kn (£8.20) with the company Antonio Tours – check out their website for timetables. There are a good few buses per day but if you arrive late and miss the last one I’d recommend a night in Zadar, its only 25kn (£2.60) to the old town and plenty of nice hostels to enjoy the beautiful city and street bars. If you want to take a taxi to Novalja, 4 of us got a mini bus for 600kn (£62) which can work out cheaper the more people you have. In Novalja – There are loads of restaurants and cheap bars, everyone seems to meet up at Cocomo on the main front from 11/12pm before heading to Zrce at 1ish. The beach isn’t amazing, but the water is relatively clear and as long as you head to the left there is a beach bar, some deck chairs and umbrellas which cost about £4 a day and a shower and drinks kiosk etc. You can rent out a pedlow or small boat to bob around in.. but really you should be heading to Zrce!Getting to Zrce Beach – The local tourist bus runs 24/7 – The bus stop is on the left of the main strip by the sea front. You’ll never wait more than 15 minutes for a bus and on average they came every 5 minutes. A day ticket is 10kn (£1) and in the evening it goes up to 15kn (£1.55) the bus drivers are friendly and flanked by security to ensure it doesn’t get too rowdy. Most of the buses have aircon but the odd one is like a sweat box! Its less than 10 minutes to the beach and drops you off right by the start of the clubs. We worried a bit about partying so far from where we were staying and if it would be a chore getting the bus but it really wasn’t and seemed like a really quick journey.Zrce Beach! Well this place is wild! There are 5 big clubs and 3 which seemed to be the main ones when we were there. Euphoria is a starting place, with vodka and jaeger for 10kn (£1) which some people started at to knock back the cheap drinks. The main clubs Papaya, Aquarius and Noa kick off from about 3/4pm when the music starts pumping and everyone dances around the knee deep pools. The beach its-self although stony was lovely and had crystal clear water. I didn’t see all the rubbish etc that people have described, it was very clean to me. We partied from 3/4pm until sunset at about 8:30pm most days then headed back to get changed. We then went back out around midnight after some pre-drinks and hit the beach 1/2am until 5/6. Papaya, Aquarius and Noa seemed the best but depending on the DJ’s at the time and which festivals are on the music genre’s were all pretty different. Drink prices weren’t too bad, a round of vodka and mixers for 4 people in Euphoria for 4 people was 96kn (£10) and before the festival Papaya round was about 140kn (£14.50) but quickly went up to 200kn (£20.50) a round during festival time. This is pretty standard English prices but luckily you save money elsewhere with food etc. What to wear – I know a few girl who have gone to Zrce this summer and we all asked the same question! So ladies this is for you! During the day it was literally bikini’s and little shorts to dance around in, we didn’t bother taking towels as didn’t really lie down but can just rent a sunbed if needed. We took a small bag to dance around with at the pool parties. In the evening, everyone was in flats, pretty standard and either cute dresses or shorts and crop tops. It wasn’t really causal but certainly wasn’t overly dressed up in mini dresses etc! All in all it was epic, there are a LOT less English than our other standard summer haunts, mainly Italians and people from Slovenia, Slovakia and Germany. There were loads of lovely Scandinavians who were always extremely polite and lovely to chat to. Plenty of Aussies, Canadians and tonnes of Irish! But it was nice to get away from hoards of English in Magaluf style places and we met loads of people throughout the week. Highly recommended and I was surprised as it was better than I thought it would be! I’ve not been to Ibiza yet but people have said its very similar. The pool party vibes are fab and the clubs were awesome. If anyone has any questions feel free to ping me a message as I know I really struggled finding out stuff before going! Jo x

You wake up on a piss ridden beach as they charge 5 kuna to use the toilets. So most people pee in the once pristine sea. Amongst the sea of neon curse word shirts, you notice the 10:1 male to female ratio. At first this is awesome, but as the night pumps on this becomes tiresome and a little creepy. I think I spent a months worth of rent in one night for heinekens and the use of a toilet. The drinks are exponentially over priced. But the cost for getting groped, free. You may wonder about security. What security? There are a few disinterested men playing on their phones outside the clubs making sure you do take booze in. If you can't really stand, no bother you can still get in and get served. Other than that there is zero security, so stick with your friends no matter what. You are your own security. I purchased a package through fresh island for 4 nights stay at a campsite and venue tickets. I never received an email confirmation. I emailed fresh island and receive a non descript email in broken English. Stating that they were very busy and would (never) get back to me. I spent 500 US dollars for the package. To only receive a wink from the girl at the ticket desk in reassurance that we would get in. Then to realize there was no camp site. Your only option was to sleep on the before mentioned piss ridden beach. Or to stay awake me hope for the best. I'm glad I came but never will go back to terror island.

The location is superb, the water crystal clear. The clubs are nice and large. But stop! If You´re over 30, You may be dissapointed. The clubs are overcrowded with youngsters in the ration 2:1 Boys/Girls. Herds of young boys, often drunk, are roaming around, mostly Germans, Italians and East Europeans. The services are a total failure. Croatia has a lack of good services, and this place is a prime example. There is nowhere You can decently eat - if You dont take fastfoods with the youngsters. The few restaurants are bellow the normal average with the typical menu list served from Umag to Dubrovnik (e.g. the fish is not from the sea at the island, but from Zadar supermarkets, brought frozen from Spain). The waiters and security guys are typical Croats, rude, arrogant and incompetent (as they usually do this work only 3 months a year). As the place suffres from overdemand from noisy youngsters with less money, they tend to be rude even more. The clubs are overcrowded, and their services is a fail (despite their lovely hardware). Dont expect any reasonable choice of spirits or lovely cocktails You get on Ibiza or big-cities clubs. No way! Mass brands served in plastic bottles, dont expect a quality - just get drunk and dance. An epic fail is the VIP sectors policy - let´s call it frankly as a blackmail. If You buy a VIP ticket for twice the price of normal sectors, dont expect You shall be seated. No way. The table shall be assigned to You only under condition, that You buy a whole bottle of 15€ supermarket spirit (e.g. Bacardi) for 150€. Ransom called a VIP service. No coctails, no rums or whiskeys for afficionados, only a forced purchase of a whole bottle for crazy price. Balkan style. Get a bottle of Bacardi and move out to make a place for another blind visitor, who is willing to pretend to be a VIP just by buying a Bacardi bottle for 150,-€. Zrce? No, thank You. Services are so much better in Ibiza than here.
