One of the main attraction of this city is the Big cathedral. Grand on the outside, unique in the inside. One must see it at least once!

This basilica, is the second largest in all of Hungary, is a treat to view. We enjoyed a lunchtime performance and I can say, the organist was amazing! There was a modest charge for this, but it was worth it. The sounds resonates through your entire body. I sat for a while afterwards, as I found this a great place to just stop and think. Do stop in for a visit...your senses will appreciate it! I hope this helps!

atmosphere is uniq, silence around with a big calm feeling. Many people just sitting and maybe thinking about God or just friends, relatives whi died

Organ playing as we entered created a dignified ambience to the building. It was worth having a guide with us to give explanations. There are many wall paintings of high quality to view.

I looked around the outside of the Basilica for two days and thought it was okay, but I almost didn't bother going inside. When I did, I realized how much I was selling this cathedral short. Even if you are not Christian, it would be hard not to appreciate the Basilica as a work of art.

There are many imitations of different styles, but an extension of the church inspires humility and respect.

We timed our visit to co-incide with the Sunday organ concert at 12:45. It was wonderful to enjoy the interior of the church with the fantastic organ being played. The concert lasted about 30minutes until 1:15. Well worth the visit.

Really beautiful, still used and nice a quiet. In fact we had the place to ourselves whilst we were there. Not flooded with tourists. 30 minutes is enough for a quick visit.

From a distance, it looks impressive. Up close it's just a large building. However, inside are wonderful paintings on walls and ceiling. Well worth a visit if you are into cathedrals and the like.

The Basilica of Eger the second biggest church in Hungary. It is surrounded by a nice park. It was built in the middle of 19th century but the painting of the frescoes were finished only in 1950. There are no works of famous painters in the church, but the image is charming. Very impressive building with four sculptures at the main entrance.Deserves a visit if you’re in Eger.Let me mention it here-since I couldn't find any other opportunities- that to the right of the main steps to the basilica is the entrance to the former archbishop’s cellars. That interesting place, called “Város a város alatt” (City under the city). This is a very long great wine complex, built in the 18th century. Approximately 3 km long, but the guided tour leads you through only 700 m. A 45 minutes’ walk under the city and in the history is something you shouldn't miss, if you’re visiting Eger.

We visited the Basilica in the time of mass. They played organ. It's big and impresiv from in and out. And there are nice parks just around the basilica.
