A boring Saturday was transformed by a visit to Bregenz to experience this cable car ride. I thought it was exceptional value for three of us and the family dog.At the top you are treated to a wonderful vista and if conditions allow, views over lake Constance and close neighbors Switzerland and Germany. If you are really lucky you may even get to see one of the Zeppelin airships flying out of Friedrichshafen. On the downside visiting in winter conditions are treacherous as snow and ice are not cleared from the paths and the Gasthof at the cable car station is closed so a meal or beverage is not an option unless you are prepared to huff, puff and slide your way down to the Gasthof Pfanderohle. Should you choose this option then I would advise a reservation for the weekend days. The food here is a delight though with simple Austrian cuisine at its best. I had the house wurst with sauerkraut and it was delicious.Note: Parking Nr the Cable Car station is limited.

Using the Pfaenderbahn will bring you to the house mountain of Bregenz. From nearly at the start in Bregenz, you have a beautiful view over the lake of constanze and if you have perfect weather conditions, you can see over the whole lake until constanze. On the Pfaender you have the best viewpoint to the bay of Bregenz. The Pfaenderbahn can be used from and with everybody, no restictions. Besides it's possible to take your bicycle (mountain bike) with you and do a ride on the Pfaender or down to Bregenz.

This is a must see attraction. The views from the top are simply sensational. You have great views across the Alps and the stunning Bodensee. In winter the mountain views are totally awesome and in summer you can walk down the mountain through beautiful scenery. There is the added attraction of welcoming bars at the very top and you can enjoy Apfelstrudel and a beer in amazing surroundings

We were fortunate to go to the top via cable car on a beautiful clear sunny day. The views were terrific and the walks along the paths were so enjoyable especially seeing some of the local wild life. A must see when in the area - especially on a clear day.

I was not aware of this attraction in Bregenz! Exceptional views from top, both on the mountains as well as on the lake.

Don't bother if its cloudy or rainy. Definitely go if the skies are clear. Easy to find, we turned up just before 10, and got on the cable car straight away. Did not bother with eagles feeding time (but would have done if I was travelling with young children). Spent about 2 hours admiring the views over Lake Constance. When we came down, there was a mighty queue for the cable car going up. If we had had more time - or if we are the area again, I would definitely make the time for a leisurely walk back down. Great half day.

We went from Lindau on the ship which is about 20 mins.trip.On arrival at Bregenz the Cable Car is well signposted.......even on the pavement ! It takes about 6 mins to reach the cable car station......uphill all the way ! There is a café adjacent to the top station with wonderful views over Lake Constance,+ a panoramic map for you to see all the viewpoints.there is also a wild animal park & the stags were roaring whilst we were there.A raptor bird show was also just about to start, so we set off to see that.......rather expensive for what it was ! 6 birds in all ( vulture, buzzard, owl. Eagle & a red kite which flew away & never came back ! ) The commentary was very clear, but went on at length & was totally in German.A handout in various languages would have been helpful. After the show was finished it was a steep climb to get back up to the top station again.

If holidaying around the Bodensee ( Lake Constance ) area a trip up the Pfanderbahn cable car is a must.Easy to find and tickets are cheap, this is a great way to have an amazing view across Lake Constance and the mountains when you get to the top. When you get to the top, there is a restaurant with open air terrace, a shop with fast food etc, gift shop, kids play area, seating for a picnic etc etc.Breathtaking views over the mountains with lovely crisp clean air.If you prefer, you can get a one way ticket and walk back down or cycle/mountain bike etc.Another great thing is to view the amazing houses below the cable car as it passes over them some of which must cost a fortune !Well worth a trip.

This is a must-do if in Bregenz on a clear day. The lower station is just a short walk from the lakeside and the trip to the top of Pfander is well worth the price (around 11 euro). The view from the top is fantastic and you can also sit with a beer/coffee to take in the view.

A great stop off as we were only spending a day in Bregenz on our way around the Bodensee. Fantastic views of Austria, Switzerland and Germany, Lake Konstanz, the Alps, complete with a mini 'zoo' for the kids, a bird show, and cafes. Well worth the ride.

The gondola in Bregenz is well worth the time and money. The entrance is near the heart of downtown. I think there is free parking in the back, but nearby parking requires slight payment in the parking meter machine at the bottom of the lot. The gondola is a large enclosed cabin with expansive glass. Rising up to 1064 m, close to 3200 feet, it offers an incomparable view of the lake, mountains, valleys and mountain shelf hamlets. There are reindeer, mountain sheep and other animals at the top. The restaurant at the top is better than you think, but certainly a drink on the outside balcony can be breathtaking. I personally had the chocolate mousse and it was fantastic. You can also get an espresso, beer, etc. There are lookout stations too. You can go one way, or round trip. The gondolas go on schedule! Don't miss the last one. Gift shop at top only accepts cash.

Lots of walks from the top and views across the Bodensee. Self-service restaurant available, although there is road access as well so the top is pretty busy.
