This culture event is on of the must see events which you will find each summer in Bregenz. the stage on the lake of constanze is impressive and you will enjoy the evening, independent of the play or opera which is presented. The stage for itself can be seen the whole day and is a nice visit worth anytime.

We visited Bregenz during the festival expecting there to be lots going on. However, apart from some musicians in the park there wasn't much going on. Unfortunately it was quite rainy when we visited so perhaps that put a dampener on things!

we saw Magic Flute at the festival. We've seen it a number of times including covent garden and this was easy the best production. The quality of singing was amazing for the open. One tip, Bregenz is not much to right home about. If we go again, we would stay in Lindau, which is lovely, and get the special festival ferry across.

Advance sales have already started for 2015 to open with Puccini's Turandot but you can come and admire the architecture any time now. Gorgeous setting on the lake, well thought out, yet understated design, creates a striking impact on a cool clear autumn day.

Brilliant performance and our group really enjoyed the evening- despite the rain which the performers ignored!

Even the rain could not dampen our enthusiasm or that of the cast. My first, but not last visit. Set was fantastic, far more humorous than I imagined. Fireworks topped it all off.

I speak no German but this show transcends language. The costumes and the sets are fantastical. We sat in a light rain and were mesmerized. If there is a chance of rain spend a Euro for the rain poncho. From what I understand the show changes every 2 years. For now it is. The Magic Flute. See it if you are in Bregenz.

Ist a bit of Change, for me at leastr, having seen and heared Magic Flute so many times. at very very good directorships like Salzburg, Berlin, Munich and Covent Garden.Singing and sticking to the original plot is not in the Forefront of the Bregenz Version.Instead, the huge Silhouette of the Lake Constance, the uber-huge stage and the lack of Limitations of a building, take precedent. You see fireworks, artistic parts of abseiling, etc etc.The opera lasts 2.15h, so Major cuts have been instructed which is acceptable. All in all a different experience, glad we were there.

Words cannot describe the magical experience of this show. Obviously weather dependent, but if that works out to see this show start at sunset and then transition into darkness is like no other opera. We saw Magic Flute and while we don't speak any German (or Italian) the storyline was clear and we walked away with a new appreciation for Mozart and operas in general.Took the ferry from Lindau which was good. Take binoculars!

We just got back from seeing Mozart's "The Magic Flute" last night at the Festival. We were lucky to be invited by a bank so we had a back stage tour as well. The stage and set up are out of this world. I am not an opera fan but watching this taking place on the water was something I would love to see again. I can't wait to see what show they have next year.

It was our second time in 3 years and although we had better weather last time, it was still amazing. The stage us stunning. The actors were great, especially considering it rained for 1/2 the play. Looking forward to next time

We booked seats on the top row and were glad we did because the top 2 or 3 rows are protected from the rain - and it did pour that evening. Make sure you dress warmly as it can be pretty windy.

The Bregenz Opera Festival is like no other opera production. Go to see the set and how it is used. Opera buffs may be disappointed by the quality of the singing. Our "Queen of the Night" in "The Magic Flute" had difficulty hitting the very high notes which I understand are the most difficult in opera. The sea stage is fantastic regardless of the production. I've seen seven operas at Bregenz and each was special.Dress for the weather when going. The nights are cool and it can rain. They sing if the rain starts after the production starts. I've sat in pouring rain twice. Ponchos are a must. Concerts can be cancelled for weather and money is refunded for certain categories of seats. The highest category see the production inside which lessons the whole experience. I only buy tickets that are refundable, which has happened twice. The point of going to the Bregenz Opera is to see the outside staging. Buy the highest category only if you would be devastated if you didn't hear the singing. Bring a seat cushion or towel to sit on. The seats can get uncomfortable during the 2 hour + production. If the opera is popular, like "The Magic Flute," get your tickets via Internet months in advance. Otherwise you may not get tickets in lower price categories or in any price category.
