The experience is nice, but we had to wait quite a lot to get in... Staff inside the cave a bit rude.

Incredible, huge and very strong beauty. A must see!The only thing I missed there it's information about the cave because archaeologically and historically it's a very important cave since the Neolithic Age; and I didn't know that yet, I would have experienced differently If I truly knew what I was visiting! (I didn't know either that's it's was the considered Hade's kingdom, and there wasn't too any more information about it. Too I would have loved to see some of the archaeological founds.Still it's was a full experience. Its a little dangerous when visiting you can easily knock your head there, and I can tell you, that stones looked veery strong, I get scared at some times, take care!Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2240430/Alepotrypa-Incredible-cave-experts-believe-inspired-Greek-legend-Hades.html#ixzz3KxL041bq It is more than 1,000 metres long with a huge central chamber and the archaeologists still have a long way to go before they have explored the entire ruin. One of the oldest prehistoric villages in Europe, before the cave entrance collapsed burying everyone alive 5,000 years ago.

we were sent in with a guide that didn't know a single word in English.he only knew how to say life-jacket.the caves are nice but ruined by people. the lighting inside is poorly done.the office is completely unorganized, telling us the site is open but when we arrived a few minutes after, the site was closed with no warning.I suggest calling five times to make sure if caves are open for long boat ride.if they aren't - do not go.disappointing, becouse the place has great potential.

A must if you are in the area. Mind blowing! Easy to find and the waits are not long if you go first thing or at the end of the day.

A boat ride into these ancient caves, where you're surrounded by gorgeous stalactites and stalagmites....crystals, that are lit up, so you get the full experience. If you're in the area it's worth making the stop...very unique and memorable

It was quiet. But no commentary in English. Museum was very interesting with good labels in English.

A beautiful flooded cave. Guided boat trip for 1.3 km. Stunning environment, absolutely impressive. Total must attraction if you're visiting Mani. The admission fee is 12 euros ( 2014 ). Worth it since the guided boat trip takes around 25 minutes and then another 5 to 10 minutes walk.. Big parking lot, a cafe with some sandwiches and a shaded balcony that overlooks the Diros bay. The boat trip starts every 15 minutes, unless the boat capacity ( 7 persons ) is met earlier. Unfortunately the stuff was not that polite or helpful ( tolerable however ), and most of them do not speak English. However they seem to be very skill-full on driving the boat through the labyrinth of the cave with tight turns and very low ceiling passages. Life vests are provided prior embarking, however a helmet would also be of use when the water level is high.

Really enjoyed this trip despite being restricted to a reduced area on the day due to high water levels.Really felt they could have done much much more to add value to the trip though as this is a real natural tourist opportunity.

Fantastic flooded cave scenery vieved from a boat. Tour rushed. Guide did not speak English nor were any guide books available.

An amazing gondola style boat trip through a labyrinth of caves covering accessible 1.6 kilometres of this cave network with the amazing colurs of the stalagtites & stalagmites, followed by and nice albeit steep and slightly slippery path (but worth it!)

Not as good as expected. Probably not helped by the fact that, due to high sea, the boat trip was much shorter than usual. (They did offer a discount, but only of 1euro. Probably half price would have been more appropriate).

Deep below the hills of Cape Matapan lie immense caves of Diros. Beautiful stalactites, crystal clear water, amazing geological structures - everything you need to feel like you were in a completely different world. The trip is not very long and quite expensive, but you leave the caves quite stunned. Definitely worth seeing!

I never get sick of this low cost visit to the underworld. In a land so dominated by ancient ruins it is refreshing to explore nature at its best under the rock that is part of the Taygetos mountain range. Crystal clear water with amazing stalagmites and various other naturally formed rocks.

The caves of Diros are interesting, but the tour is too short (shorter than advertised). The caves are first entered by boat and, after a short while, the route continues by foot. I recomend to ask the boatman to sail slower, to enhance your experience. The caves are accesible on a good and beautiful road from Gytheios.

We didn't expect much from these caves but they were spectacular. Traveling in small flat-bottom boats made the viewing really enjoyable. Lots of well-lit chambers boasting tons of stalactites and stalagmites. Too bad the keepers of the caves are not more careful -- everywhere there are signs of broken stalactites and stalagmites, and electrical wires, red boxes, and lots of other stuff are visible in the waters.
