Like most beaches here, this is a rocky beach which makes getting into the water a little chalanging (unless you have water shoes) but the water is clear and refreashing and the views are great.

Mostly fine water because of rock bottom that was very good when you learned to how to go in the water, really liked it.

Everything is "close" in Pigadia or in Karpathos. First you enjoy the town beach than you discover other nicer beaches, even clearer water if this is possible. No stress, there are tourists, enough to feel that you are on holiday, but no crowd, no noise, no discotheques. Just relax. If you hire a car you can see the whole island; if not, you can take the local buses which are in fact for tourists as the locals don't use them...Also the standard sea trips are nice as the small ships are navigating close to the shore so it is quite "scenic". We did have one or two clouds the whole week, nice breeze(on the sea it becomes wind) 28 celsius in the day, 24 at night. Did not need air condition. Food is tasty nearly everywhere. Would like to return in spring. At one of the tavernas we were a bit disappointed(Posidon) - we are not much eaters but the portions they served were less than tiny and they put on the bill two times the water ; all other places they gave as little extra sweet or something above the ordered menu.We missed an information point(the building exists but it is closed and empty) but the people at the bust station are ready to give help and information. We have used the Karpathos app from the phone. Everywhere and everybody speaks or at least understand English. Hope that the island will not loose its charm by too much development which you can already see on the hills, less traditional houses, etc.

Pigadia beach is long and wonderful for taking long walks. A downside is that the beach drops quickly away, so not very suitable for children or adults who can't swim well. There are numerous beach cafés and tavernas, so always place to have a drink or a snack.

Had to buy swimming shoes, disappointed about the beach. The water was nice. It was hot in the sun, so we had to take a bath several times while we were at the beach

Pigadia beach is ok.. but thats it :) On Karpathos you can easily find more beautiful beaches. I suggest you rent a scooter or a car and you will easily find amazing beaches.. on some of them, you might even be alone :)

Close to town, but there are much nicer places arround the island, take a look in trip advisor :), Finiki is just one of them...

It is the major place in Karphatos, full of all the usual attractions but not very crouded and very pleasent.

Pigadia is a beautiful sandy beach located in Pigadia. With relatively shallow waters and soft sand, the beach is an ideal place for families.

I was there at end of avgust 2013 and it was pretty much windy so there where huge waves. Me and my boyfriend kinda liked it, but my mother (who is 55 years old) couldnt go into the water-the waves were to big and she could fall.Although, beaches are sandy and the water in verry clean.

Staying a three minute walk from this beach made it a natural choice for us. Parts of the beach is quite stoney, but if you walk a few more steps the water is clear and the bottom is sandy and smooth. By the beach there are several typical greek tavernas that serves good and cheap lunch food. There is nothing wrong with this beach, and it is great place to be.

It is in close proximity to the hotels - there are many sun beds/umbrealls to choose from. There are also a number of snack bars/restaurants overlooking the beach.

First of all: The water is clean and very clear! The beach in front of the hotels next to town actually is narrow and ugly. In addition this is an area which usually is crowded. The greater the distance to town the better the beach. On the other hand: Far out there are no facilities and there is no shade unless you bring it. Partially the beach is very rocky and it is difficult to walk even with shoes. There are some places with a few meters of sand into the water which makes swimming a real pleasure.

the water is great, the beach is great as well, only problem...US humans...too many of us crowd the beach and its not that fun anymore. I recommend getting a 4 wheeler and driving down to or hiring a boat and visiting some of the other beaches that are super amazing.

Liked everything. The people and Greek lifestyle was wonderful. Will go back next year but for a longer stay :)
