We went here twice in 2014. I love climbing stairs and in this case the view is spectacular! I'm not a very religious person (although raised catholic in the Netherlands) but my heart melted while watching a baptism ceremony in the little church on top of the hill. I've been in love with Greece for more than 10 years now but 5 years ago I found out that my real father is Greek. (but unknown)Yes, a lot of stairs but really worth it. If you visit Rhodes in September it will be extra special because the Tsambika/Tsambikos name day is on Sept 8th. I'll be there again this year in September and will visit the Monastery at least twice :-)Close by (drive a few 100 ms further after visiting the monastery on the hill) is a little church where a lot of ceremonies take place, outside, with all the locals joining in, a wonderful place as experience as well.

Well worth the drive up the narrow and very steep road and then the walk up the 350, yes 350, steps. The small church is beautiful with its wax baby candles. The views are incredible. Do not miss this. Also the photo that you see on trip adviser is not of the monastery but of the church in Siana which is also worth a visit!

I went to the old Tsambika Monastery in August 2012. However the new one is more available for tourists as it is located along one of the roads, I wanted to see the real one. The walk to old monastery takes about 30-40 min if you start from the down road and climb the stairs. The path is shadowed by trees so you will not be tired of the sun at all. The monastery itself is really quiet and the sacred space with the altar of St. Mary is pretty tiny. I was lucky to meet traditional Greek family with their grandmother who first gave me a lift up and then involved me into their ritual pray with oils and incenses. I found it extraordinary and I felt like one of Greek woman who come to Tsambika with their intentions and thanks... There is also one more reason to climb the Tsambika monastery - the view from there you will never forget. That is one of my most precious memories from Rhodes.

A small church on the top of moutain.. And I fell in peace with climbing the mountain. ..... Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.

Peaceful, and a lovely view, but loads of steps to climb! We got a taxi to the halfway point, and then you climb 300 steps. Taxis were 15 euros from our hotel in kolimbia to the monastery and then another 15 euros to tsambika beach.

the monastery is nice and old but what is worth seeing is the view over the sea from the church of tsambika opposite the monastery.after climbing a lot of stairs you can enjoy the view

You will have to climb 300 steps but it's worth once you arrive to the top, you can admire the great view of Tsambika beach. Take a small bottle of water. On the top, you can refill your bottle. Also good for your legs...

Hired scooter to get about ..tackled the mountain no problem.Still in natural state..we loved the old avenues of trees and cola dates around the monastery.rich in history..

The 300 steps are well worth the beautiful views of the Tsampika beach and the surrounding area. The monastery itself is quite modest but nice. Reward yourself afterwards with a swim in the beautiful Tsampika beach.

There are actually two parts->>a beautiful and big church at the beginning of the mountain - easy to reach by car>> and a small but really astonishing church at the top of the mountain - there are only stairs till there. It is worth to climb up as there is a remarkable view.

Up in the mountain, full of tradition, impressive even for non believers. It is a place full of quiet and peace. Fabulous view to the island.

Lovely area to visit for a clean and sandy beach. Quite busy though... We also stopped here for a swim from the boat on the Rizos Cruise which I would definitely recommend.
