This ranks as one of the most well planned museums I visited while in Athens. While it was small, the collections were well thought out and the signage/environmental design that went into the layout was very well done, proving tons of information for visitors. There were also interactive displays to learn more in some of the sections, really going into the history of terms or areas described, and helping to set the context for the pieces I was seeing. I found this wasn't the case in many museums in Greece. This museum was a great size to fit in part of the day, and only took a couple hours to view. The gift shop also had a nice and tasteful selection of souvenirs. Overall this was a really pleasant surprise and I was so glad to have visited.

Not overwhelming in size, but has an abundance of things to see. I especially liked their featured exhibit that included the history of medicine in Ancient Greece. If you spend a lot of time looking at things this should take a few hours to go thru and is not overwhelming in size. Would recommend, but not a must see in Athens.

A wonderful museum taking you from the early Cycladic art to classical times. When you see the forms and shapes of the early statues which were much echoed by later artists it is hard to see the jump to the classical figures we know. This museum helps you to make this jump.

I loved this museum, small and very manageable, in an hour or so. Lots of great exhibits, excellent examples of the Artwork that influenced the early Aegean Cultures.

It was handy to have this museum open on Monday, when we had little else to do in bad weather.Greece has much more than just classic Hellenic period heritage.

This is maybe a small museum, however all the treasures and exhibitions either permanent or seasonal is a unique experience and knowledge of the ancient Cycladic culture.

apart from the permanent collections, the periodic exhibitions are always a must-see. Don't miss the sales shop and the cafe

This museum has beautiful, well displayed, and informative displays about all aspects of Cycladic culture in prehistoric Greece.

It is dedicated to the study&prototion of ancient cultures of the Argean and Cyprus ,with special emphasis on Cycladic Art of the 3rd Millenium BC.İt is worth to see this small Museum.Recommended.

Neglected by most tourists, this is one of the easiest and best stops in Athens. Seminal collection of art (though it was collected before people worried too much where it was coming from, so there is little info about provenance, etc.). One immediately sees the influence on modernist artists like Giocometti, Picasso, Modigliani and they usually put on excellent temporary exhibitions. Superb museum cafe with beautiful views and excellent food. Very easy to walk up to the museum from Syntagma Square. They also have incredible programming for kids, including a museum pack that travels to schools.

My first visit in 15 years - a wonderful, excellent museum. Apart from the permanent collection of Cycladic Art there are dedicated exhibitions and we greatly enjoyed the one on Healing in Ancient Greece and the other on Death in Ancient Greece. I've decided to upgrade my funeral arrangements! Also a very good cafe in the atrium.

This small museum should be the first stop in Athens. Two floors are dedicated to a clear and fun explanations of the Ancient Greek world, the perfect introduction to any visit in Greece. The display is incredibly well done, with cartoons and videos. Another floor is devoted to Cycladic art, and the last one to Cyprus. The cafeteria is wonderful, and the place very well maintained and staffed.

only worth the visit if you really want to focus on the Cycladic Arts. This would be several down on the list of hierarchy.

A very interesting display of pre-historic art and objects from the past. I enjoyed visiting all the floors of the museum and the temporary exhibition on Hygenia that they were having on the ground floor, was mind-blowing.

This is a small museum, but I very much enjoyed it. I did go to see the Cycladic art, but the other floors were interesing too. So there is a floor about Cyprus and another about daily life in ancient Athens. This was well worth visiting.
