Historic old wooden bridge, crossing the river Rhine between Germany and Switzerland. There were some works being undertaken on the German side when I visited but you can see this is highly skilled conservation work and does not take away from the visit. As you cross the bridge you will cross the border into Switzerland!

Its not often that you can walk across a beautiful covered bridge to another country. Sackingen in Germany is a cute town and it is an easy walk over to Stein in Switzerland. Don't forget your passport!!!

I've walked across the bridge a number of times and never tire of it. You can just feel history under your feet and the views from it, up and down the Rhine, are lovely. A great place to take visitors to the region.

A wonderful character bridge which is well worth walking along if in the area. I remember when cars used to cross this narrow bridge and it seems ridiculous now. It meanders a little bit and there are little alcoves along the way. Half way along there is a painted white line and you feel you are literally jumping from one country in the next. It is something special to walk over a covered wooden bridge which is over 300 years old.

This bridge is our usual crossing from Stein (Switzerland) into Säckingen. This is fantastic piece of history that is well worth a visit that crosses into the town of Bad Säckingen.

wonderful bridge, so old, and still in great shape. really you must walk to Switzerland in the evening, a great walk over the river Rhine in a well lit bridge, walking across one of Europe great rivers, from Germany into Switzerland, is a great walk, and an a great thing to do walking from the EU into the neutral Switzerland.

This bridge is beautifully constucted and the history is fascinating. At night it is lit and looks even more picturesque. Standing watching and listening to the water rushing past the solid stone piers you can imagine yourself back in the Middle Ages when it was a vital link between Bad Säckingen and Stein am Rhein. The solidity of the timbers used for the bridge is testimony to the quality of the restoration work carried out over the years

Absolutely worth a visit and a stroll, walk to Switzerland and don't forget toget a side view via the stairs just in front of the bridge

It is a very nice bridge and impressive for those who are interested in architecture and history. The bridge leades into an old town with many nice restaurants and gelaterias. Special recommendation: Fuchshöhle (fine dining) and the local gelaterias (Mona Lisa).

Wooden bridge over Rhine that connects to states. Interesting and picturable.

This covered wooden bridge - formerly open to motorized traffic, now only to pedestrians and - careful! - bicycles, spans the Rhine River and connects two countries - Germany and Switzerland, so don't cross without some valid picture ID, even though there's no regular border control, which means crosisng without your ID or passport (if you're not from the EU or Switzerland) would be illegal. Even though it's basically a fully enclosed bridgem, there are windows which provide a nice view up and down the river, to the town and the hills beyond. The previous review calls this the longest covered bridge in Europe - well that it is not, but it is a fine example of medieval craftsmanship. It's not worth traveling to it just to see it, but the old town of Bad Sackingen on the German side into which the bridge leads is well worth a visit with its many old buildings, cobbled lanes and fine church.
