We really liked the hike from Aha to Seeburg along the lake. There are a lot of kids playgrounds. There are possibilities to skate (in winter) or to hike. Of course also other activities are possible like to play minigolf, sledge, eat good and so on. The village is not huge, but has some charme.

We went there with 2 classes from our school, year 5s and visited the Beach, had some team trainers for an afternoon and went to the Modelleisenbahnmuseum. There are several hostels around the lake, we went to DHJ Seebrugg with great food, and lucnh packages. No later then end of October, as the weather would give you no chance to hire a bike or walk around the lake.

The Schluchsee, with its above sea level height of 930 metres is the highest lake in Germany and the largest lake in the Bundes State Schwarz Wald. It actually is a glacier lake that by a dam has been transformed in a hydropower reservoir with a 30 metres elevated water level. Despite the dam, the Schluchsee still appears very natural. The lake is 7.5 KM long, 1.5 KM wide, and 63 metres deep. The dam was built between 1929 and 1932, to collect the water from the river Schwarza. Meanwhile the Schluchsee has become a popular venue, particularly with sailors and swimmers. Unlike the nearby Titisee, almost all of the Schluchsee's shoreline is easily accessible, through which it became a popular resort. The sea is surrounded by several walking trails that cover the total shoreline length, which is about 18 km, and for the major part on level for easy walking. Highly recommended to visit.

A group of us really enjoyed the boat trip with our free tourist passes. It took an hour and a quarter to go round the lake and we enjoyed wonderful cakes served on board while we enjoyed the views

This is a very pretty lake, the largest in the Schwarzwald. It is safe to swim and the water is cold but clear. Lovely spot for a picnic or you can hire an electric motor boat to pootle around the lake in at a gentle pace.

Walked around some of the lake trails, took out an electric boat and just hung out - was a holiday weekend so lots of people around, but very nice. Some beach access, but quite rocky.

If a lake is too big, it loses its sense of being a lake but is a sea. If it is too small, not exciting then. Schluchsee has a proper size that makes you feel wide and grand, and also conquerable (I reckon the length circling it is 10km roughly). Schluchsee is hidden in a high land in blackforest, and very easy to be reached by train and hiking. I suppose more fun can be enjoyed in summer season by relaxing on lake side and those water games. But I went there in winter. I did enjoyed a very fresh air and nice view of snow covered lake. I hope next time I could go there again in summer. If coming at winter, better combine Schluchsee with Feldberg, Two places are very close.

Great time at Schluchsee in Schwarzwald. We had a great walk with lovely views. Would definitely go back to visit and would love to go for a sail and spend some time on the water. We had some fall rain which did dampen things but we still thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Great stay and luxury spa.I specially liked the calmness of the room to the back because you did not hear the sound of the cars
