Weinheim has a very nice and interesting old city center. Thanks to local laws most buildings are in a good to great state of conservation. The ideal starting point is on the old town square ("Marktplatz"), down to the tanners' district ("Gerberviertel") and finally the mansion's garden ("Schlossgarten"). Weinheim may not be the biggest town in Southern Germany but it does stand out for its unique city center and is well worth some 1-2h walk.

We enjoyed our get-away trip from Heidelberg to Weinheim. You take the #5 Tram and then it is just a short trip to the Altstadt. We attempted to walk to the castle - but gave up after getting about halfway up there (at least 30 minutes). But, when we decided to give up - we took a detour down the hill through the church cemetery. That was very unique and interesting amongst a wooded path.The Aldstadt was very nice with lots of restaurants to choose from and interesting scenery at every turn.

We love Heidelberg, but wanted to get away from the bustle of the crowds and so began looking for towns around it to go visit. I love old castles and so that was a part of my search string. What we found was a small gem on our trip - WeinheimIt is easy to get to the Weinheim Altstadt, just get on Tram 3 out of Heidelberg (heading to Weinhein and not Manheim) and enjoy a 35 to 40 minute ride through Heidelberg and it's outskirts. You will then enjoy the sights of small towns on the way to Weinheim including beautiful hills, castles and abbeys, farms and the sights of Germany one rarely gets to see. Both castles are open to the public (for a fee I would assume since we chose to not visit on this trip) and have food.When you arrive at the first Weinheim stop on the tram, get out and go to your left, following the sidewalk to the main road. Turn right and walk for about 10 minutes or so and you will find yourself in old Weinheim. The Altstadt and all that it offers is on the right. You have newer shopping, small stores, family run cafes, restaurants and the main square toward the end of the walk. There are wonderful places to eat, grab a pastry and cup of coffee and relax with the locals. There aren't many non-German tourists, but we felt right at home. We had a great lunch of local fare followed up with coffee and pastry at a family run bakery.We spent the better part of a day trip on Tram 3 going first to Weinheim and then to Manheim and back to Heidelberg. The transportation costs were Euro 4.30 for the two of us for each leg. The time and small travel cost was well worth the trip. You might ask, "Why didn't you rate this as a 5-star place?" I think the castles would have much it worthy of 5-stars, but can only guess.I want to go back and explore both castles as they are both open and the old one has food service.

An sich eine kleine und verträumte Stadt, besucht im Januar - war also etwas kalt. Sehr schöne erhaltene Fachwerkhäuser und Gassen. Der Altstadtrundgang ist echt toll. Von der reinen Größe her überschaubar, die beiden Innenstadtparks laden zum verweilen ein und sind im Sommer bestimmt echt toll. Die beiden Burgen bieten einen tollen Blick, selbst bei dem doch überschaubarem Wetter konnte man sehr weit schauen. Also im Sommer das Ganze nochmal...

Очень приятное место. Деревушка, которая расположена на живописном холме. Старый город не очень большой, но аутентичный и нарядный. Обязательно заберитесь на гору к развалинам шлосса!

Interessante Altstadtführung mit sehr guter Ausschilderung und ausreichenden Informationen an sehenswerten historischen Gebäuden. Tolle Burgen/ Schlösser

die große kreisstadt weinheim liegt am rande des odenwalds und bietet einen schönen blick über die rheinebene bis nach mannheim und bei guter sicht bis zur hardt mit den bergen des pfälzer waldes. eine burgruine (die windeck) und eine erst im 20. jahrhundert errrichtete burg (die wachenburg) sind weithin als wahrzeichen sichtbar. der mittelalterliche marktplatz mit seinen schönen häusern und dem alten rathaus aus der mitte des 16. jahrhunderts bilden ein schönes ensemble. sehenswert ist weiterhin u.a. der exotenpark mit den einzigartigen zedern, mammut- und gingkobäumen, die hier im milden klima gedeihen. als etappe ist weinheim immer zu empfehlen, wächst dort und in der umgebung doch ein guter badischer wein, der von einer sehr guten gastronomie angeboten wird.

Ｗｅｉｎｈｅｉｍはとても小さな街です。、赤レンガの木組みの家が立ち並ぶ風情有る街並みが観られます。ハイデルベルクなどの古城街道に行く際に立ち寄る観光客が多いようですね。ビンデック城からの街の眺めが素敵ですよ！！
