A simple church inside but a glorious external addition to Trier's historical centre. My first St. Gangolf church ever. It was so peaceful inside.

This small church, seemingly the Church for the Market, is just on the side of the Market square, and you see its tower. Inside is a beautifully decorated ceiling and sanctuary. There were lots of people praying inside, and it didn't seem to be on the tourist trail - but a very good place to pop into for a quick prayer / bit of silence / pause in a busy visit to Trier.

immediately out of the busy market place and tucked away behind beautiful gates. As you will be close by for lunch pay a quite visit

This is one of the oldest churches in Trier and is located on the Hauptmarkt. It is a catholic church. There is an effigy of St Gangolf in the grounds. The church can be visited through lovely ornate gates

This church near one of the most beautifull squares in Trier is a a nice place to go. Because the entrance is unexpected, when i entered the church no one was in it. Sit and pray or just look at the inside.

so lovely tucked away through a little entrance from the marketplace and used as a proper place of prayer

For a bit of quiet within the hurdy gurdy of the downtown tourist blitz, a working church is the perfect antidote, whether you are Christian or not. In a town that thrives on image, this place is real. Simple. Relatively unadorned. With a great sense of presence.

Great contrast to the Dom. It was the pesant's church and they kept it plain but it has the substantial look of we are here to stay.

As prayer service was going on we did not enter its interior, later there was no time left to do so, but surely it must be beautifull. Maybe when we will visit Trier some years later we may check its interior out.

The church is beautiful and right off the main market.

The best part of this is the view of the belltower from the square. The church itself is old and fine inside, but nothing really worth a special detour. It really is the local parish church and pretty small, so leave it to the faithful saying their prayers and go see the Dom and the Church of our Lady which can swallow up huge numbers of tourists and have more to see.

Enter through a small courtyard off the market square into a rather small and a little dark, quiet church. A place of retreat from the busy street with a long history. We enjoyed the visit.

Hidden behind a row of houses in Hauptmarkt. Try to locate the entrance and through the small yard, you'll reach a completely empty church. No visitors at all... so completely peaceful to enjoy the silence for pray.

The church as it stands today arose at the outset of the 15th century. A four-storey tower had already been constructed a century earlier. The tower's later top two storeys were donated by Adelheid of Besselich, widow of the Lord Mayor,. The market church's tower, now at a height of 62 m (200 ft), was taller than the Cathedral's towers, one of which was in turn raised by a storey a few years later. Especially striking in the interior are the Late Gothic colour scheme and the stone retable of the former St. Michael's Altar.

On est de prime abord , étonné par le bâtiment extérieur et l'intérieur est aussi bien entretenu et joliment garni. Bon souvenir
