秋天的科莫湖十分秀美，沿湖观光道上满是枯叶，夕阳西下时显得十分宁静。晚上的湖边有些凉，抬头望去是满是繁星的天空。

I was staying in the Milan Malpensa airport area and had an afternoon free, so I took the train from Malpensa to Como for the afternoon. It took about an hour each way (you have to connect with another train in Saronno and there are many local stops), so this would mean it would take about 1 1/2 hours from Milan central. Trains to and from Como/Saronno run about every 30 minutes. Be sure to punch your ticket before you board.The train station is right on the lake, so there's no chance of getting lost. You can stroll around the coast for miles, take a boat tour (9 euros for an hour tour) or ride the funicular to the top of a mountain for a wide view.The city itself is not special but the lake and snow capped mountains are beautiful.I was there off season (February) and it was not crowded but my guess is that during the spring and summer it could get congested, especially if you drive.A nice day trip and worth while if you want to get out of the city.

This is not to be missed. Better that you drive around the lakes and take your time. Each town has its own charm

Lake Como is the most beautiful lake in Italy that I have seen. Beautiful views surrounding all the lake. I went to the boat trip and enjoyed every minute. I stopped in Bellagio which is a lovely place to visit. I recommend this lake to anyone who visits northern Italy. To go on the boat trip, of course, one has to pay.

Visiting lake Como is a couples vacation. Kids will be bored, leave them at home and it's not a business trip. The first thing you need to know is lake como is an upside down Y shape. What you do here is explore small villages on the lake by a ferry. The ferry wears you out when you're on it for a long time - even a short time. Just drains you. So stay close to where you want to go and this is a good trip to stay in a few hotels rather than one. Pack light and take one suitcase each for easier navigation. Our hotel ( The Grand Imperial Hotel) picked us up at the airport and we took a taxi from the hotel to a train station when leaving. Google a map of Como to get familiar with the shape and cities. Then google the cities to determine which ones you'd like to visit. You can't do them all. Some are so small you don't want to. I recommend staying at the Grand Imperial hotel in Moltrazio, at the sourthern end near Como. It's a lovely hotel, with a pool and tennis courts, hiking the stairs beside it to a little village for the best view you will find on your entire trip. (Watch for the benches on the right side of the road, take a right at the fork and keep going til you see it. Bring along a book - what a pleasant day that was!) The town of Como has restarants and light shopping and a cathedral. Eat al fresco with the view of the cathedral, then visit inside the cathedral. We're well seasoned travellers and enjoy the small towns so trust me when I say this, you don't need to spend much time in the actual city of Como. 2 days tops. Then take a day to lounge at the pool of your hotel one day and another day hike up behind the hotel and soak up the afternoon with compare/soda's on the patio, making it 4 days at the Imperial. Then scoot north to a hotel in Menaggio. A cute little town. A few shops, ( very romantic) the best gelato stand we found in all of Italy, and an outdoor restaurant on the lake across from the town square. Very relaxing and very quaint. The ferry is a short ride across the lake to the jewell of Lake Como - Bellagio. Plan on spenind a minimum of 2 days in Bellagio up to 3 . Plenty of scarves to be had here at excellent prices. The best scarf store was Avanti, who makes scarves for Versace. Make a stop one day at nearby Vila Carlotta and tour the house and grounds to see one of the old grand dames. Check out the city of Varenna which is a colorful romantic small town near Bellagio and you've reached the end of your trip.

We have visited Lake Como several times since 2008 and have used almost all of the public ferries on the lake, including the car transporters which also take foot passengers.We were in Tremezzo in June 2014 and we had travelled on one of the car transporters the previous day. We had been laughing about the differing health and safety levels in different countries. The ferry we had been on had a flat deck, open to the water at both ends for cars to drive on and off. That day it was not carrying cars and had plastic garden chairs placed on the deck to carry passengers, quite a few of whom sat happily on the plastic chairs. The ends of the deck were "secured" by what looked like large white tennis nets stretched across the ends of the deck, presumably to stop passengers, some of whom were children, falling off!We were to rue our laughter, come the next day, Friday the 13th! We boarded the catamaran Citta Di Como at Tremezzo, next to our hotel. When we went on board there were two entrances to the seating area, one of which was closed and we were directed to the other one. I saw the opening, saw the seating area through the heads of the people in front of me and that was it, I was suddenly falling and desperately trying to save myself but couldn't. I had to be lifted from the floor and helped to a seat. I had not realised that the entrance was about six inches off the floor and that you had to literally step through the wall. A woman on the row of seats in front turned and said to us, "he (her husband), has just done that at the same place but he managed to save himself"We then noticed that the doorway to the seating area which was closed had metal ramps either side of it to help people over the rim of the doorway, whereas the door we had come through had none at all.My knee swelled up alarmingly and I had damaged three of my toes and cut my elbow, the crew were kind and provided copious ice packs to try to stop the swelling. When we reached Como I still could not walk, the Red Cross were summoned by the Captain and I was taken off the ship on a stretcher down the gang plank to be taken by ambulance to Como hospital. I was kept on a trolley for five hours having X Rays taken and seeing the doctor who gave me a medical report in Italian but basically no bones were broken, which was good, although I was in a lot of pain and could only hobble along. I cannot fault the hospital they were very kind but the only way back to the hotel was to get a taxi which the hospital ordered for us, this cost over 100 Euros.When we arrived back at the hotel it was assumed that I had been hurt in the ferry accident outside the hotel. Whilst we had been away another ferry had crashed into the landing stage wrecking it so that it had to be closed and we ŵere told that several passengers had gone to hospital.The landing stage remained closed for the rest of our stay making it very difficult for us to get around as I could not walk as far as Villa Carlotta, the next stage.If you use this form of transport be warned, your travel insurance will not help you unless you are on a trip organised through your travel company who have to have offices in UK for them to take your case. I have written to Navigatione Lago who run the ferries, after six months waiting for their insurance I have now been told that they accept no responsibility, all "securities" by which I presume they mean safety measures, were in place. They will not even pay the taxi fares, even though as well as the trip back from hospital, because of my injuries we were forced to get a taxi to the airport. No folks, be vigilant and take care, if anything happens you are on your own!

This extremely panoramic itinerary has very fascinating scenarios.It's a beautiful lake that we find as we go through the various locations surrounding full of charm. Starting your trip in the beautiful city of Como, will enjoying the natural beauty of a region that has preserved nature. Mountains overlap. The sunrise and the sunset are beautiful. Not to be missed.

We went to Lake Como on a weekday. It was so easy to get there from Milan by train. Although the weather was drizzling we still had a good walk and enjoyed the sightseeing. Absolutely different from the hustle and bustle of Milan and Rome. Loved the view.

I had never really heard of Como, but some friends and I went. It was a really pleasant town. It's not the most exciting place, which was perfect. Walking around the town and lake was so relaxing and nice. You can also take a tram to the top of a hill where there's another town and you get a great view of the lake. I think the tram is 5€ to go up and come back down. The gelato is also fantastic in Como!

such a big tourist destination but the lake is amazing and the town around is buzzing with cafes restaurants and shop and churches, i reccommend a boat tour around the lake (where you can get off at any island) and spend the day there

My wife and I booked a hotel in Milan and made a day trip up to Lake Como. It was well worth it. We reached Como mid-morning and then set sail onto the lake for the duration of the day. Como is a nice town-some smaller restaurants and hotels that do feature shopping. Setting out on our boat cruise, we went to the Bellagio stop and had lunch while also taking in the local shops. We also had ice cream and a fine walk at another boat stop to complete our day.One thing that I would mention is that we left Como on the boat at noon-it took nearly two hours to get to the Bellagio stop (one of the big attractions on the trip), leaving us little time to do more exploring the rest of the day. One of the last boats to head back toward Como is around 6:30 (we visited in September), so plan your day accordingly. I would suggest leaving Como in the early morning to help maximize your visit.

When you arrive at Como it is best to have your own car for there are so many places to see: Belaggio, Menaggio,Lecco to name a few. Also there are absolutely great hotels to stay in but do expect to pay for them.

We had dedicated one day for Lake Como and we managed to make the most out of it. We had rented a car the previous day as we went to Turin too. By car from Milan it is about 1hr to Como. We parked the car on the eastern side of the lake in the direction of Bellagio. We had very good ice cream and a fine walk around the lake. Then we drove all the way to Bellagio and the scenery is just magnificent (highly recommended to experience it). Be aware that the road to Bellagio is narrow, so if you are not an experienced driver maybe not the best road to try out your skills. In Bellagio we put the car on the ferry to Cadenabbia. The views from the ferry are also highly recommended. From there we also had a walk around and then we hit the road back to Milan.

We did a day trip from Milano. We took a train to Varina for about six euros. The train trip took around an hour. Varina is a beautiful quaint Italian village that sits on Lake Como. We had perfect sunny but cool weather and the views of the snow capped Alps was nothing less than breathtaking. After about one and a half hours, we took the Ferry to Bellagio (another beautiful town). After WONDERING around Bellagio, we took the bus to Como. The bus ride was cheap and a picturesque trip... You can see the lake the entire time... Como is a larger and busier town which appealed to me less. We went directly to the funicular and went to Brunate...wow what views... We stayed and watched the sunset over Como Lake and the Alps while drinking cocktails... Afterwards we came back down and took the train back to Milano.... This was the BEST day of our trip. Go to Lake Como in the winter if you have a sunny day..... Probably nicer in the winter as the small towns are quiet and the views are outstanding.... ENJOY!!!

Lake ComoThis is a must see location if visiting Milan. Despite only being in Milan for a weekend we decided to make a trip here and we were not disappointed. We were lucky enough to experience double figured temperatures, being the weekend before chrisrmas this was to our amazement. We purchased reasonably priced tickets  for €4.50 one way. The train took 37 minutes. I would advise booking your tickets as it  can be quite a busy train. When visiting lake como we contemplated  between the boat trip across the lake and the mountain train (funicolare  como brunate).We opted for the train as we had walked a signifcant way around the lake and wanted a high viewpoint. I feel we made the right decision, although the train was not that well signposted and easily missed (you do not need to travel up the mountain!)The train is located next to a bar and is by the water front. It cost €5 and was money well spent the view over the lake was incredible. In the distance the Swiss alps could also be seen. We were lucky to have clear weather- at the time Milan city was coated with fog, we were surprised at the change in weather in such a short distance.The town itself is a rather quaint and traditional spot, the area did not feel at all 'touristy'. There were plenty of market stalls to keep us entertained and many independent shops spread out across the town. Overall, it was a lovely day out which I would fully recommend to anyone planning to visit Milan.
