Vey nice historical palace and large simple gardens facing a beautiful area of Como lake with great views in all directions.

Probably the most celebrated of the historic villas surrounding lake Como. Built in the late18th century in sumptuous neoclassical style, it is now a property of the Municipality of Como hosting a variety of events and art exhibitions of antique, modern and contemporary art exploring a wide range of themes, genres and ideas. Exceptional artworks on show like the recently closed Ritratti in città, an artistic take on urban sceneries, geometries and landscapes.

Had the opportunity to see an exhibit entitled "Ritratti della citta'." It contained art work of cityscapes by Italian artists. Excellent and well worth the money. The walk to Villa Olmo along the west lake's edge is beautiful and offers views of the north lake, the funicular, and Como itself.

When we first came up to this Villa I was so impressed with the expansive gardens, open to the public along the front of the lake.It was a beautiful day when we visited and lots of families were out strolling. Worth a walk around to this villa if you are staying in Como.

We took the #1 bus because we did not feel like walking that day. You buy the tickets at the Tobacco shop ( the shop with the T outside. We saw the Italian Futurist exhibit and it was fantastic. De Chirico and other Italian masterpieces.

Lovely villa with italian garden and a beautiful newly restaurated fountain. It worths the visit even if the weather is bad.Inside, they organize beautiful exhibitions , so you can admire the villa but also paintings....From there , starts a path and you can walk and visit some others enchanting villas and the silk museum.

We could only visit and view the villa from outside as it wasn't open but the view close up of the villa itself is fantastic, a so well situated on the lake on the edge of Como itself. It is worth the walk up from the centre of the town along the edge of the lake, hopefully you will have a sunnier day than us, but either way it's a lovely building worth seeing up close and the view over the lake.

Como has plenty of villa surrounding the lake and. all of them are so peculiar and beautiful. I did not have the pleasure to visit the villa from inside, however the exteriors and the position worth a walk.

Today we went on a walk from our apartment in the historical centre of Como to Villa Olmo. The very best part of our excursion was the walk there (about 20 mins with a toddler in tow) past beautiful villas, gorgeous gardens, and the gentle lapping of the lake. It is a very easy lake, and it is worthwhile having some bread scraps in your pocket to spoil the ducklings on the way. The magnolia trees are huge and the lavender smells incredible. The Villa Olma itself has expansive grounds and the rear area would be a lovely picnic spot. If you enter from the city side you can stop at the cafe and overlook the lake front, or walk around to the far side for entry in to the public pool. If it is the late afternoon and you do not have children it might be worth hiring a sun bed to lay beside the lake, but if you have a family it isn't worth it. The,children are much better off up in the pool area. All bathers must wear a cap and they can be purchased from the bar for €3.50 each. You can take a picnic or buy lunch and/or cocktails. We enjoyed a brief visit, and I had a refreshing swim, but my Australian children were not overly excited, being used to beach life. With entry, beds, umbrella, and lunch we spent around €75 so it might be worth it if you took games and spent a hole afternoon.

Would have liked to look around, but thought admission to the exhibition should have been free. Gardens were lovely.

We ate here with a group of conference participants. The food was good. The service was efficient and friendly. The vuew of the mountains at the othet side of the lake is beautiful. Far away we could still see some snow on the mountain tops.

I did not go inside the Villa, but stopped there as I took a walk around the grounds and look at the beautiful view! The front of the building (facing the lake) is pristine, with some very nice but very basic landscaping and marvelous fountain.

The front of the building (facing the lake) is pristine, with some very nice but very basic landscaping and marvelous fountain. Take a walk round the building to the rear (facing the main road) a very different story, extremely run down. Glass missing from windows, rotten frames. The positive is the small cafe at the entrance, very friendly, clean worth a visit just for that!!!!

unfortunately we arrived only 1/2 hour before lunch so could only visit the downstairs- which was excellent but would like to have seen more. Gardens were pretty and there was a number of marine life modern sculptures added to the classical ones. definitely worth t he visit and go by the footpath that follows the lakeside to see other villas which aren't open and also possibly a sea plane taking off or landing
