We wanted very much to see this collection but didn't want to drive from Parma. We learned from the tourist office there is a bus. It was very simple, just buy your ticket at the TEP office next to the station. Walk 1 block, get the bus and 30 min later you are at the villa. The collection is astounding--not just any Durer's--his greatest prints. As others have mentioned the collection includes a Titian, Cezannes, modern and Old Masters. All displayed in the lincredble rooms of the villa. We also stopped in the bar/ restaurant for prosecco and it was served with a small plate of salami, Parmesan and little fried bread specific to the region. It was lovely sitting outside with peacocks wandering up hoping for a treat.

It's located in a village 17km south of Parma & is worth a special detour even without visiting the Torrechiara castle.A beautiful villa standing in a big park. Inside there are temporary exhibitions, but for me the highlight was the permanent one displaying works of Goya, Cezanne, Monet, Mattisse, Renoir, Titian, Durer etc. While admiring the art it's worthwhile to pay attention to the rooms, the furniture, the carpets etc. It's a pleasant surprise in a rather secluded area, which shouldn't be missed.

A great collection, in a very pleasant (if anachronistically English parkland) setting. The Durers are a rare treat especially, but interesting mix of Impressionist and 20th century Italian art too. Worth tying in with a trip to the local castle at Torrechiara on a cycle ride (plenty of cycle hire places in Parma), as the surrounding farming countryside is worth exploring at your own pace.

This is a hidden gem in the middle of the beautiful countryside. This is a spectacular villa with a beautiful collection including Albrect Durer and Monet. It is a small collection but there were not many people there the afternoon we went so I could just gaze-away... A completely peaceful way to spend an afternoon. The grounds are gorgeous and the peacocks were showing the plumage- noisily, I might add.

A magnificent collection tucked away in the countryside outside Parma is not to be missed by art lovers. It can be easily linked to a visit to the stunning castle of Torrechiara in an excursion from Parma. The villa is set in beautiful formal English-style parklands which are visited by local people as an outing in its own right but the main attraction is the permanent art collection stunningly displayed in the villa.Contrary to an earlier comment we thought the attendants looking after the collection were utterly charming and helpful and made a significant contribution to our pleasure in the visit. As for the art itself, may I list some of the highlights. The greatest attraction for us was one of the most beautiful of Titians; a sacred conversation with saints; a virgin and child seated against a dark background opening up to a glimpse of a prospect. The figure of St Catherine on the virgin's right is one of Titian's most exquisite creations, her right arm in a pale purple dress and the white silk undergarment projects into the viewer's space, each fold and crease catching the light with fabulous beauty.A large Goya family group was also stunning with its addition of the painter himself on the right hand side of the picture caught in the act of looking at the family of the infante don Luis before touching brush to canvas. The pair of Tiepolo capriccios in the foyer could easily be overlooked but both the Finding of Moses and the depiction of Midas are elegant masterworks. Two rooms full of works by Morandi are unmissableand there are many many more treasures to be discovered. It is one of the most delightful collections anywhere and an absolute joy to find in its rural setting.

Made a stop at magnani Rocca on our way back to Parma from visiting the castle of torrechiara, perfect combination, the sights are really close to esch other. Liked the peaceful surroundings and the small but tasteful collection. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed when we were there.

The park is beatiful, the interior of the Foundation is well organized. However people at the reception and also those serving at the inside bar-restaurant seems to be there to serve for a sentence: it is very hard to succeed to obtain an information or a glass of drink either...

A fantastic location in the middle of the countryside, but excellent links to Parma (incl. the train station). English-style park and a first-class collection. Temporary exhibitions are planned each year. Masterpieces include Goya, Morandi, Cezanne, Canova, Titian, Durer, etc. Very good restaurant in the ex-stables. Concerts in the summer and children activities (booking only)

The villa that houses the Foundation is located in the countryside south of Parma, and has become in recent years one of the main attractions of the city. The Foundation exists thanks to Luigi Magnani’s initiative; he was an art historian and critic, who used both the wealth provided by his family of entrepreneurs and landowners, and the counseling of some distinguished colleagues and friends (like the painter Giorgio Morandi), to form an excellent private art collection, we don’t expect in this secluded rural area. You will enjoy here the temporary exhibitions, as well as the permanent collection that includes, among others, Flemish and Italian Renaissance painters, French Impressionists, XXth century’s Italian artists (like Morandi himself). The Foundation includes, in addition to the villa that houses the collections (and a bookshop), a large park, populated by peacocks running free. So the park is very popular with families, that can take advantage of a ticket that includes the park only. In addition, at the Foundation a restaurant works. Since the Foundation is frequented by organized groups (I myself have visited it as part of a group), you should dial for restaurant reservation, especially on weekends.A weakness: it’s somewhat difficult reaching the site for people without a car (or without a bus of package tours). However, there is a public bus service, departing from Parma railway station.

Art is presented well, but detailed explanations are all in Italian. If you need English description then it's well worth buying a guide book from reception (10EUR for a good quality book showing all the works).

This wonderful villa is set a few km from Parma, in the hill area, and can be reached from Parma by bus or by car. If you like contemporary art you don’t have to miss it! The location itself is great: a villa surrounded by a park, with a restaurant and running free peacocs. The Magnani Rocca houses a permanent exposition of paintings and sculpture (such as Goya, Renoir, Matisse, De Pisis, Cezanne), but it houses temporary exhibition of most important international contemporary artist. Next temporary exhibition will be dedicated to Guttuso and will start in September.

L'ambiente fa la differenza. Prendere un aperitivo in quel parco ripaga di tutto. In ogni caso ottimo salume, ottime cose. Buoni vini. Molto buono il servizio
