Enjoyed by kids and adults. Unfortunately, the terrace was closed the day we were there so check the schedule if this is one of the reasons you're going.

This is the main attraction and our reason for going to Moneale. Make sure to get the audio guide. There is an amazing history of many centuries and cultures of Art in the Duomo.

It is probably one of the msot beautiful churches I ever visited. All the walls are full of mosaics depcting scenes of Jesus's life and those of the old testament. Amazing is the Pantocrator on the abs nd the icon of Mary.

Hard to imagine tyhis from the outside. Incredibly crafted mosaics from the 12th century in fantastic condition. Especially breathtaking if you can arrange to visit when the sunlight is htiing one side or the other.

A 10 min bus ride from Palermo. A beautiful view of Palermo. The Church is a must see-beautiful mosaics inside.

The somewhat plain external façade belies the magnificent interior. Walking in, the sheer extent of beautiful mosaics almost overwhelms. The Norman King employed the best craftsmen, both Arab and Byzantine, for the high decoration, with the results that we are fortunate to see today. From the floor to the ceiling everything is wonderfully ornate. The nave and apse are filled with religious imagery in mosaic, with Christ Pantocrator the central apse figure. The floor is attractive, as are the numerous statues. The treasury contains lovely items including impressive vestments. One aspect of the exterior that is worth walking around to see comprises that of the apse area. It is richly decorated with numerous designs made of marble and tufa.

We were on a cruise, that tour entailed entering via many steps at the front, however we made our own way by taxi its about 10 minute ride, the driver parked in the pretty square I now know why the tours stop at the front with all the steps there is no way buses can get up there through very narrow streets leading to the square.. We entered at the side on the level at no charge. It is truly amazing 42 scenes from the bible in mosaics, yes you get overwhelmed by beautiful churches n Italy but this is one of the most unforgettable. We have walking difficulties and the young lady advised us to use an outside entrance to the gallery which we were unable to find.but it didnt spoil our visit in anyway we saw what we wanted to see and its the church we talk most about now. Its cheaper and easier by taxi you can get from the port either a sight seeing deal, haggle, or a taxi straight there.Dont miss it.

I have seen my share of cathedrals.... but this one is for sure amongst the most magnificent buildings I have seen. The richness of its intererior decoration is incredible. The variety of scenes and the techniques of the artists are baffling. It is a bit of a detour to drive up to Monreale from Palermo, but it is worth it for the Duomo. Parking is complicated, but there is a paid parking facility on the hill, about 200m from the main square where the Duomo is located. Do not look around for a better one. It is the only one.....

The scale and vitality of the mosaics in the Duomo are quite overwhelming. Do not miss the enchanting Cloister next door

This is the monumental cathedral which you may not miss while staying on Sicily. It is one of the most magnificent churches I've ever visited. Take your time to enjoy as much as you can from the centuries-old mosaics. Outside, you get a marvellous view as a bonus.

This was a pleasant surprise to me. After a while you can get serious cathedral overload, but this place amazed me. Perfectly preserved with beautiful mosaics, it was one of the prettiest and more interesting cathedrals I've seen. It is located high on a hill outside of Palermo, so there is lots of walking to get there, but most worthy of the trip. Also lots of cook shops outside the cathedral with beautiful ceramics.

For 6 euros, we expected to see something other than the cloister courtyard. Yes, the pillar mosaics were nice. But not worth the fee.

This is a place that is difficult to drive to. We managed to squeeze our small Jeep Compass through harrowingly thin streets to get to the parking lot for the duomo. You take an elevator up to street level and proceed to the left to walk into town. The Square and the Duomo become obvious. On entering be prepared to be thrilled at the ancient mosaic work done is such 3D manner it is a wonder to behold. You are able to take photos as you wish, a departure from other Byzantine mosaic laden places we visited. The entire ceiling and walls and the entire place is spectacular, so take your time. Afterwards, go out and around the building and pay the fee to see the courtyard gardens and all the amazingly detailed carved and mosaic pairs of pillars that surround on all four sides. Very contemplative and romantic and a great area for that photo to frame when you get home. It's just lovely.
