I booked a snowmobileg trip to get around the region via svalbardbooking.com."Svalbard Snøscooterutleie As" was the company realising that offer. I really nice guy picks everybody at the hotel up, brings them to their garage, introduces everybody in the snowmobiles, equips everybody with good clothing and then the trip starts.Now the really disappointing facts: we booked this trip, cos it was the only one offering a 5h-trip. All the other guided trips are this time of the year (last week of December) mostly only 3h. First we drove 25km in 65min than we went into a tent got some reindeer-stu. Tasted nice, but we didn't book a lunch, we booked a snowmobiletrip. After 131min we drove 62min back to the garage. The maximum speed we reached was 40km/h but most of the time we were driving around 30km/h.All together it was a 4h 18min trip! THAT'S NOT WHAT WE BOOKED!We payed 1950 NOK (~214,49€, ~262,47$, ~168,84£ 29.12.2014) and only got a 2h 7min ride.Totally NOT worth it!

Booked a snowmobile trips with scooterutleie.net through Svalbard Booking.Very service minded when they had to make some changes because of the weather conditions. Fixed everything from pick-up at the hotel to delivery back when we were finished.Nice and responsible guides who both know the country, the history, terrain and weather conditions.

Our snowmobile safari to Villa Fredheim on Sassenfjorden turned out to be the highlight of our holiday in Tromso and Svalbard. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to Svalbard Booking's headquarters on the outskirts of Longyearbyen, where we were given a quick tutorial on how to drive a snowmobile safely and were kitted out in some very warm snowsuits, boots, gloves and helmet.Our guide Svein was very imformative and certainly knew a lot about the natural and human history of Svalbard, and ensured the groups safety at all times without taking away our feeling of adventure. They do suggest that each person rides their own snowmobile, however my wife rode pillion as she wasn't confident of driving one herself, and we had no problems, We had booked the trip to the Ship in the Ice, but disappointingly Tempelfjorden had not frozen, so we lunched instead on dried rations in a little hut next to Hilmer Nois' hunting station Villa Fredheim. Svein was full of interesting facts on the early fur hunters and their way of life. We spotted a few Svalbard Reindeer but alas no Polar Bears. He also managed to take us up a quite tricky route so that we could enjoy the view down to the Fjord and the Tuna Glacier beyond, and up narrow little valleys so that we could walk behind a frozen waterfall. And when the conditions deteriorated in to an almost complete white-out he ensured that the group kept safely together. There are no toilets so if you need to answer a call of nature you'll have to be prepared to make yellow snow.This is one day trip that you'll remember for the rest of my life.

trip started from the worlds northern most hotel ( raddison blu ) , next to the governors residence, traveling on 200 meter thick ice sheet, with polar bear warning signs, sights included artic research centers, mountain top view from over the longybearn fjord, sighted polar deer , later the day trip covered the abandoned coal mines, russian quarters and trip to the worlds rice/ plant bank. good view of the glaciers along the longybearn fjord. nice trip , once in a life time experience to the NO MANS LAND. ( LAND CO MANAGED BY 40 COUNTRIES ).

De hentes oss på hotellet. Ga oss flott innføring i sikkerhet og ga oss dresser,sko, votter, balaklava, briller. Alt vi trengte for turen tok de hånd om. Akkurat passe dagslengde. Og en VELDIG god lunsj inne i varme og nydelige båten i isien. Kommer tilbake til disse med nye turer senere!

Ho fatto un viaggio alle Isole Svalbard ai primi di giugno 2014. Quel periodo alle Svalbard è bassa stagione, perchè la neve comincia asciogliersi in piano ma non del tutto, l'alta stagione è da marzo a maggio, quiando c'è già luce ed il sole sale sopra l'orizzonte ma la neve è ancora ovunque. Premesso ciò, aggiungo che alle Svalbard ci sono diverse organizazioni di escursioni, perchè lì, per il pericolo dell'orso polare, è obbligatorio, se si vuole uscire dal piccolo perimetro della cittadina (piccolisisma peraltro) si deve per forza fare un' escursione organizzata con le guide munite di fucile. La possibilità di incontrare un pericoloso orso polare è molto bassa in estate, ma non assente. Le escursioni, come tutto del resto, alle Svalbard sono un pò care (una escursione di tutta la giornata costa intorno a 150-170 euro a persona, pranzo al sacco compreso) ma è logico, sono così lontane!! Venendo al dunque, io ho prenotato l'escursione con Svalbardbooking sia per l'itinerario proposto ( Isfjorsavari e Postrbreen cioè safari nel fiordo e al fronte del ghiacciaio Breen) sia soprattutto perchè era ben specificato nel sito che l'organizzazione forniva l'abbigliamento necessario per l'escursione (Stivali e tuta impermeabiule soprattutto, passamontagna, occhiali da neve, ecc..): questo per me era molto importante perchè l'escursione avveniva in mare, su gommoni tipo zodiac, ed il freddo sarebbe stato intenso se mal equipaggiati. Quindi la fornitura di attrezzatura idonea mi ha sollevato dal dover portare in valigia abbigliamento e scarpe in più. Le escursioni variano in base al giorno della settimana, sia per questo che per altri operatori. Al posto di ritrovo avviene la vestizione con tute, stivali in gomma, ecc e poi si parte con le guide armate di fucile (noi in 4 persone avevamo due guide) e su gommoni a chiglia rigida appositi (la seduta è a "cavalcioni", in modo da non avvertire i salti dello scafo sulle onde). L'escursione, che dura 8-9 ore, ci ha portato al fronte di un ghiacciaio che si butta in acqua: lo spettacolo è molto suggestivo, in lontananza potevampo scorgere delle foche (N.B: : obbligo portarsi un binocolo!!!). Essendo i primi giorni di giugno l'acqua del fiordo non era completamente scongelata e non ci siamo potuti avvicinare di più al ghiacciaio, in giugno inoltrato o luglio senz'altro le possibilità sono migliori. Abbiamo tuttavia navigato, a velocità ridotta, sulle acque con ancora un sottile velo di ghiaccio, ed il gommone sembrava un piccolo rompighiaccio. E' stata una esperienza emozionante. Anche i salti sulle onde, assolutamente non pericoloisi per la particolare seduta e le apposite maniglie cui aggrapparsi, sono stati una cosa molto emozionante. Durante l'escursione siamo approdati ad una piccola spiaggia, la guida è scesa per prima per perlustrare la zona e controllare che non ci fosse qualche orso (raro in estate) poi siamo scesi anche noi e lì abbiamo consumato un pasto al sacco caldo: apposite buste con cibo liofilizato e succhi caldi: il cibo era buono, da esploratori. Ripreso il mare ci siamo avvicinati a rocce sulle cui falesie migliaia di uccelli marini nidificano ogni anno. Che dire, un'esperienza unica. ( Esiste anche l'escursione in mare ma con una piccola nave: certo si starà più comodi ma non ci si può avvicinare ai ghiacciai e l'emozione è minore). Ed anche qui, come con Artic Tapas, hanno fatto l'escursione anche se eravamo solo 4 persone. Il prezzo di 170 euro a persona, alto si, mi è comunque sembrato più che giusto dato i luoghi, le guide, il percorso, il cibo, e soprattutto l'emozione. Spero di poter visitare ancora le isole Svalbard, magari in aprile-maggio, periodo migliore anche se più caro.

Vi ble hentet på hotellet med buss som kjørte oss ned til båten og en kunskapsrik guide som formiddlet både på Norsk og Engelsk.Hele mannskapet var Filepinsk.Service minded og smilende,alle sammens. Øl,vin,brus og brennevin. Til lunch fikk vi grillet hvalkjøtt (nydeligt) og grillet laks som også var helt topp.Vi gikk helt opp til Esmerbreen, ca 10 meter ifra p.g.a.om breen kalver må du ha tid til å komme deg vekk.Fantastisk flott å ligge så nært.Vi var opgså heldig med været.Sol og helt vindstillt.Barentsburg var todelt.Flotte nye hus blant mange forfallne rønner.Hovedgaten var av store betong heller. Et moderne sykehus med to leger.Nytt administrasjons senter.Skolen så ny ut med en flott utsmykkning på uteveggene.Nytt Hotell.I baren bestillte vi et glass hvitvin en 12 år gammel singen malt whisky og 20 rusiske sigaretter. Pris 50 kroner !

Заказывали несколько экскурсий, включая посещение Баренцбурга и Пирамиды.Все хорошо - трансферы вовремя, за безопасностью следят.На сайте большой выбор экскурсий, любой турист найдет для себя что-то по душе.Некоторые экскурсии проводят сами ребята из компании.Офис их только найти оказалось неожиданно сложно - на втором этаже довольно неприметного здания. Поэтому звоните по телефону если заблудитесь :-)
