We decided to take a walk to the waterfall when weather was not favourable for cross-country skiing. It was January and temperature rose to 5 degrees resulting in tons of snow melting and a big flow of water in Mumlava river. So it was noisy and the river was furiously running through the forest (check the photos). Walk from Harrachov was easy and nice, although you have to be careful in winter as some parts of the trail may be icy.

very pretty and a great trip through the forest which has many interesting flora and fauna to see. Fellow hikers are friendly and my daughter was very excited to be able to stand right under the falls which are fairly impressive by European standards.

Mumlava Waterfall itself is approximately twenty minutes by walking from the large parking lot in Harrachov. It is better to don't stop at Mumlava Waterfall and take a hike further alongside the river which will offer many nice views to flowing water and peace of the Krkonose forrests. At the end of the 7 kilemeter (4,3 miles) paved road there is often during summer season open cabin with refreshments and guy who will rent you a scooter and you can take ride back - it is all gradual downhill, just for a nice cool ride.

We took a walk with girlfriend and our dogs from Harrachov, the place is not very distant, its easily accesible even for little kids or disabled people. You can have drink or little snack in two close pubs and the waterfall itself is pretty much like czech republic. Small but lovely :) Special bonus for us was this crazy guy who was having a bath in the stream. On New Years Eve... Yes.

An interesting nature point of visit in Harrachov. It is about 40 minutes of slow walking from Harrachov on gravel and wide path. The path run mostly uphill. But it is easy to get it. Near the waterfall there is a mountain cottage with simple food and drinks. The car you can leave on small parking close to the beginning of path to Mumlava waterfall.
