My wife and I aren't sure why people rave about this bar. The prices are sky high, the service was average, American singer was not good and the room looks tired. The lobby was far more impressive so we ended up sitting in there instead!

Great place for drinks and cover bands. Come here either to get your night started or to finish it with a night cap. It won't disappoint you. Friendly staff that can even cater to unusual drink requests. Across the street from the casino at Hotel de Paris.

If you can take a table out on the verandah that is quite pleasant. Service courteous and polished, quite expensive but we were staying the hotel so it was easy. Good selection of wine, spirits etc, they do serve meals if that's what you want too. The nibbles they bring out with food was delicious.

All the time when we come back to Monaco, we take advance to enjoy the fine live jazz and to relax into a classic and graceful atmosphere at the Le bar Americain. Splendid!

Great service, elegant crowd, we were there for drinks, but you could tell everything with the service was top notch. The seating, the lighting, all just right. Its a relaxing place to be even with huge number of clients. Then there's the band, right out of a sixties or seventies movie setting, playing favourite oldies from Tom, Engelbert and others. On the must do list when visiting Monaco.

Excellent service, great drinks (although I never saw the prices) - and the entertainment during my stay was superb.

This bar, located in the Hotel de Paris, saved me from a miserable experience in Monte-Carlo. I made the mistake of having a very mediocre lunch at Cafe de Paris, and was kicking myself at wasting time and money in Monte Carlo. I decided to pop into Hotel de Paris, and was delighted at my experience at Le Bar Americain. The seating was comfortable, the ambiance pleasant (loved the vintage Sinatra music and old photos), and the staff was outstanding. When asked for a recommendation for a rose by the glass, my waiter decided to bring each of the two choices with two glasses and poured me a sample of each so that I could make the decision. While expensive (12 & 18 euros per glass) this was a good value, given the lovely setting and excellent service. It also was a good value as my drink was accompanied by a glass of homemade potato chips and another of salted, roasted almonds. I would love to return in the evening when it appears they have a live band. And need I add, spotlessly clean restrooms, as you would expect at a luxery hotel.

How many times do you get to sip a martini looking out over the Aston Martins and Ferraris parked outside the most photogenic casino in movie history? Or you can look out at the ocean, twinkling in the moonlight and feel like James Bond, just for a moment. The staff were attentive, friendly and polite. I'm mostly allergic to rich people, but it felt lovely to be in the lap of luxury in such a famous spot. Great bar snacks!I would recommend wearing appropriately fancy garb. On our coldish evening, we were wearing sportjackets, collared business shirts and cashmere sweaters. I wouldn't want to pop in in cargo pants, sneakers and a t-shirt.

It is really unique bar mainly for its jazz performers. Excellent music and the variaty of the selected songs. Very nice atmosphere and really polite staff. One of my best nights in Monte Carlo with my wife..

I came here for a drink during my long weekend away from Paris. I had heard a lot about Hotel de Paris, especially given the Alain Ducasse fame and figured I'd start the evening with a drink at Le Bar American. Upon arrival I was promptly seated near the bar area and was given long cocktail and wine lists. The furnishings and the room itself were very nice, just what one would expect from a place like this: fine woodwork, a dress code, etc. However, I found the staff to be quite lacking, being very slow to take orders, too personal, and placing a greater emphasis on having a good time themselves in the bar area rather than providing a first-rate service to its clients. Particularly, I found it very disturbing that the bottles in the bar kept exploding and the staff was happily laughing as they leisurely wiped the mess away. The jazz band was a nice touch, though, but overall the bar did not have an exclusive, refined atmosphere one would expect. The drink was so so, the food was nothing special, and overall I felt the place could be better managed.

Stayed at the Hotel de Paris, and visited Le Bar American twice, once on Monday evening when there is no live jazz being played. Reserved a table for the following day. Classy bar all the way. Service was good, if you tip well, you will be received well, after all your in the number one hotel in Monte Carlo. Prices for wine, port, or cocktails way over priced but that is to be expected. Live jazz was great and enjoyable. It states that men should wear a jacket but that rule is loosely applied. Elegant place to sit and have a drink before you carry on to your next reservation! This is not the place to sit and order drinks all night. It's to enjoy the mood of the hotel. We loved it.

After a lovely day taking in the sights and sounds of Monte Carlo my family and I wanted nothing more than a sit down with a nice cold drink after which we went to use the rest rooms. A rude toilet attendant kept telling us we were not guests at the hotel and shouldn't be there using the toilet facilities. We had dressed up for the occasion and were quite insulted having spent £70 euros on 5 orange juices and an evian water. Do all the staff here treat tourists this way??? In the bar we were about to order another round before our glasses and coasters were whipped out from under us!!!

My wife, her parents, our kid and myself spent an evening having dinner with 2 bottles of champagne Moët & Chandon in American Bar of Hôtel de Paris. Normally, we are regular clients of this magnificent place, but this year, we prefered to stay in Fairmont Monte-Carlo instead. However, we booked a table for the 5 of us and arrived at around 19:00 local time. Unfortunately, the food service inside American Bar was only starting from 22:00, which we probably forgot or did not remember... Nevertheless, we were enjoying our first bottle of champagne (115 Euro) and we tried the very little canapés (only 6 pieces for 36 Euro !!!) on two occasions in order for us to have something to eat while drinking our champagne. Later on, we ordered our second bottle of champagne, with safran risotto, penne al arabiata. We were very satisfied with the quality of the service provided and by the good looking of all waiter/waitress of the bar. Only good looking staff are working there it seems, which give a higher class dimension in the quality and luxury of the place. Food taste was good, but not exceptional this time, probably not salty/tasty enough for me.Well, we had the chance also to have live music from a jazz singer man for a while and we could really enjoy fully our evening, before to proceed to Monte-Carlo Casino to loose some money, as Casino always wins at the end of the day...We will definitively come back to this great American Bar of Hôtel de Paris, a great place to be if you want to feel treated like a VIP and to enjoy luxury life of Monaco with great clients all around you.I'll soon add some photos to my review and HD video on my www.youtube.com channel, subject being : "otterboris", so enjoy watching them and see you there next year !

Le Bar Americain is a special occasion type place-only the very wealthy could afford to make an evening of it there. There were plenty of patrons of that type in the bar the night we went--bottles of vintage champagne were going off everywhere! We tried the champagne based mojito--probably makes a self respecting Frenchman roll over in his grave, but it works! The drink came in a long glass which looked like it had a mint plant sprouting from it, and it tasted great. The drink cost of 26 euro ( each) was made much more palatable by the excellent bar snacks that were provided--generous in quantity and flavour. Our night was made when the band leader asked us to nominate their first number for the night, and then dedicated the song to us-- a bit of fun and great audience engagement by the band( who were terrific by the way). All up, a great experience, and one you should try to tick off your list whilst in Monte Carlo
