Really very beautiful and cool place in hot summer. Trip is with boat. You shouldn't go there at weekend, there is very crowded and can't see whole beauty of this place. Few years ago, there were discovered dinosaur remains and how I remember, footprints too.

Martivili Canyons, one of my favourites destinations in Gerorgia. An amazing place for a picinic and good swim. The water here is so cold but if you love adventure than you wont be able to control your self. Really beautiful place. We took a boat to the first waterfall and we were not planning to continue swimming, but after seeing the beauty of this place, we decide to jump into the water and continue swimming to the second water fall and Yes we made it. We had a good swim and it was lovley. I would highly recommend anyone who will visit Georgia to visit the canyons. Allow 2 hours for this place or more if you are planning to swim and rest.

Went to see the famous Martvili Canyons and take a dip (in freezing water) which was welcome in the 40 degree heat. Not well signed posted or easily accesible to "non locals" but a visit that a should make.

We visited the canyon after having read the raving reviews. It is nice, but.... It is very polluted and during weekends the crowds gather and make it a local experience: there was a lot of arguing by locals with the women that run the boats but it seems to be part of the experience. Trip with the boat is a nice opportunity to get to a small waterfall. One boat costs GEL 25 (takes 30 mins go and come back), but if you like to go further it costs another GEL 25 to get further into the canyon. For families: please do not take the path downward from the parking to go swimming. It is slippery and polluted. Stay near the area close to the boat rental. Better go on weekdays.

The place is ideal to freshen up in a marvellous surrounding of trees and rocks. It's not easy to find the place, since there's only a small sign along the road 100 meters before you reach it. I recommend you to ask people frequently for "Martvili canyons" along your road, otherwise you may go wrong way. When you come to the place, park where you can (in august on the afternoon it may be crowdy). Walk 50 meters down to the river, and you'll find it. There, about 5 woman rent reliable inflatable canoe with two rows and a personal driver to lead you. Give your name to one of these women, a fee of 50 GEL, then after some minutes she'll call you and let's go. Let the current sweep you along for a one-hour immersion in the secret baths of Prince Dadiani! Great and very refreshing.

The Martvili canyons feature beautiful green and blue colors. There are steep rocks to climb, spectacular waterfalls to enjoy and caves to explore. You can enjoy a very brief boat ride in the canyon. I wish we had been able to spend more time here. It's peaceful and hidden in the middle of west Georgia.
