Foret de soignes is quite a unique feature of Brussels, stretching way into the city through the Bois de la Cambre, and extending out all the way to the outskirts of the city.

Wonderful place to walk, jog, play, have a pic-nic, ride your bike. Enter from end of av Louise, can 1st stop for coffee at la Patinoire, then stroll on to the Lake, rent a row boat (in summer), or walk further to enter the forest. Can spend an hour or two, or the full day. Endless entertainment.

We went on the midweek English language tour, which took about an hour. The guide was very pleasant, easy to understand and very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Brussels history and the history of the building. Slightly disappointed that the original Gothic interiors had been destroyed by war in the past, so most of the interior is 18th and 19th century. But that is hardly the fault of the people who run the place now!

A few miles outside Brussels you can find the woods. Many walking circuits , no sounds except that of nature. Yo u can spend time to walk, run, mountainbike etc.

Plenty or roads, tracks shared by walkers and bikers, even horseriders, within a beautiful and well-maintained city forest. Places arranged for brunches, small lakes and wildlife makes this place a very nice family outing.Unless you're up to some mud-riding, a bunch of nice tracks, signle traks and fast roads, then you'll have to be ready with your mountain bike (full suspension is not required though..., but winter clothes and mud resistant !)

Very wide area with a lot of nature. Bicycling and walking with children is very easy. Cars are not allowed.

You can get lost in here! Forest that almost encircles the Belgian capital and the closely guarded "lungs" of the city. Mile after mile of paths for walkers or cyclists (and horse riders). Cycling is probably the best way to see it as you need to move quickly to cover any significant proportion of it in a day. There are plenty of hosteries if you plan your pit stops. Tervuren, Jezus-Eik, Groenendael, Waterloo all offer good dining and drinking possibilities. There are stables for horse lovers at Jezus-Eik (Barbizon) and Groenedael. Chateau de La Hulpe can also be found on the edge of the forest. A great way to get some exercise and to see the green side of the Brussels area.

It's possible to bike from the center of Brussels to Foret des Soignes to enjoy a change in atmosphere, with the nature.

It's very near Brussels and it's easy to reach. You can take either short and long walks, as you like. Beautiful nature.

This place is a great opportunity to quiet down, to be with nature, and just to get lost in the woods. It is as close to real nature as you can get in Brussels, sometimes you don't even hear the motorway anymore. I went running there off paths, found wonderful spots with beautiful trees and sun shining very poetically. Great place to do yoga by the lake at the entrance. Peace.

If you're looking for somewhere to get some fresh air and a bit of exercise, then this is the place for you. There are trails a plenty, so you can easily put in a good hour of running or walking. If you park up just on the edge of Jesus Eik, then you've got a few nice places for a good meal as well. I think there's the Cafe le Forret or something near the church.

You should start with a stroll through the Bois de la Cambre, which is actually more a park, like Central Park. From there, you can enter the forest from any of 3 sides, either from the Bois de la Cambre, or from the Boitsfort side, or from the Uccle side. There are places to leave your car on all 3 sides. If you're on foot, I would advise to take the metro to the Herrmann-Debroux terminus and from there to walk inside the forest (follow the indication for the "Centre Adeps de la Forêt de Soignes"). You can of course also access another part of the forest from Tervuren (first visiting the park of the Colonial Museum). In all cases, you should experience the unique character of cathedral beech that can still be felt and that dates back to the 17th century and the Austrian rule.

Wonderful, big, with areas for everybody - walkers, bykers, runners, horseriders... Vast and beautiful! Links different parts of the city, accessible from different points by public transport and parking sites alike. Love it!
