A majestic gothic cathedral in a charming medieval town. Beautiful intricate details on its exterior. The main tourist attraction in Senlis!

One of the smallest cathedrals in Europe but a really lovely place. We arrived in the middle of organ practice so we got to wander round to French baroque organ music - perfect. The outside is just as interesting as the inside so don't forget to do a full circuit!

I have visited other Gothic cathedrals in the past and I must say this one is beautiful and worth a visit even though is smaller than other well known cathedrals. As the previous review mentions, Senlis should be an entry in its own right. I went there for both the cathedral and the fact that the city has still houses, streets and buildings from the middle ages. There are other buildings to see. I got a map from the Tourism Office with suggested walks and I spent a couple hours walking around and was very pleased with my decision of visiting Senlis.Getting there is very easy from Paris if you don't have a car. From Paris Nord take a train to Chantilly Gouvieux and then bus 15 to Senlis. It costs 2 euros each way and it's about 30 minutes from Chantilly. You can spend a morning there and maybe have lunch in Senlis as there are plenty of restaurants and cafés very well priced and everything else closes at lunchtime.

We came off the autoroute for a coffee having never heard of Senlis. What a gem of a preserved city. Full of history with picturesque sights at every turn . The cathedral is lovely but so much more to see. The city should be an entry in its own right.

A beautiful building and pleasantly well cared for. grounds at rear well worth walk through - when not raining.

This large Gothic cathedral left us with the feeling we did not spend enough time in it and would like to go back. This magnificent temple was built in 12th century and it seems perfect as located in the picturesque medieval city of Senlis . Inside it seems very well balanced and conducive to prayer and meditation. Not to be missed.

I was really surprised when I turned the corner and there it was. The flying buttresses are massive and unique. If you're in Senlis, do not miss this architectural beauty.

There are so many old cathedrals in France you almost start to think that you don't need to see another. But they are not all the same and the Notre Dame Senlis is no exception. It is so good and a mix of architectural styles set in a medieval village that is still so evident today. Magnificent statues and ornaments abound, but this cathedral also has a friendly feel, a feel that just makes you want to sit and reflect. They don't all achieve that and I believe that that is the reason that there is standing room only every Sunday.Well worth the look as is a look around the village itself.

A magnificent medieval cathedral that has fallen into disrepair...still worth a trip as is the charming town in which it sits.

This cathedral was built piecemeal and so is a composite of many styles and is very interesting. Sits on a pleasant square in the middle of the village. Parking nearby, plenty of H spaces. Famous organ.

One thing that strikes you about france and europe is that the old towns are so well preserved to reflect their historical glory, and cathedrals are always the centeal part of it.This cathedral gives a sense of peace which it is built to give, but more interesting is the walk around the town, looking at those wonderful french windows, walking through bylanes and occadional dash of colour flowers to accentuate the beauty of this town.If you have interest in history , this is a must visit.

In process of renovation but beautiful and grand and clearly a feature that adds a distinctive character to this small rural township.

The Cathedral is so ancient that it pales in comparison to others in France, but if you've enjoyed the Pillars of the Earth, then it will be an inspiring place to visit and see what the 12th century cathedrals were really like.

More information inside would have enhanced the visit. Somewhat dull in comparison with the exterior

If you are in the area, Senlis is worth a visit. The old center of town is very charming, and at its center is the 3rd Gothic Cathedral ever built. While not as imposing as the later bigger cathedrals, Senlis still has a place in architectural history.
