Although NARBONNE was the capital of jewish kingdom of SEPTIMANIA,it has one of the finest gothic catedral, with a nice souvenirs shop filled with books, some of them with the history of the catars and wine mad with eau de vie.

Narbonne is a lovely city in which to spend a few days. The Cathedral, at the top of the city is different in many ways. the main differences is that it remains true to its' original builders. It hasn't been updated or changed as the winds of historical times normally demanded. It is small by comparison and only partially restored but wonderful in its' own way. The outside is as impressive as its' inside. take the time ,climb the steps and look at the history. inside the organ and a few good stained glass windows are the main attraction.

There is a great sense of history here which U.S. missed when so many churches and cathedrals get restored. It has a wonderful feel of the history. Ntge dimensions are curious until you understand the history of the building, right back to the roman times.

It was so interesting to walk around all the various parts of the interior and exterior of the cathedral.

A great surprise walking in here. This is a must see as the grand works here were never finished and as a result, this must be one of the tallest but shortest cathedral around. The part that is finished is beautiful with lovely stained glass, but spend some time looking at the outside, you can study the construction techniques and see how large a building this was going to be from the back where the end is just bricked up. Don't miss the archbishop's gardens by the cloisters, the sundial fountain is great.

Truly a magnificent cathedral. We were overwhelmed with its size and beauty, especially the hugely famous 1739 Moucherel organ. We visited the town of Narbonne while on holiday in October this year (2014) and fell in love with it. There is an Organ Music Festival that takes place in the St Just and St Pasteur Cathedral in the months of June ,July and August and it features organ players from all over the world and is free. Definitely something that we would return to see.

Second by size only to the monumental palace in Avignon this monumental area (which include also the Marie) is incredibly fashinating. The cloister, the passages, the gardens, all is so well mantained.

Beautiful inside and out. Very spacious with most everything you would expect in a great cathedral. Neat how everything has been incorporated around this building.

What a Cathedral! For sure one of the prettiest cathedrals in the whole south of France if aint the best. Spend a day in Narbonne and loved the old town, especially this place.

We visited Cathedrale St Just on a very hot day and the cool and peace of the place was well worth the visit. We had just eaten a very good Plat du Jour on the square and popped in. The architecture must have been stunning in the 13th Century. It is just part of what is a very interesting history of this part of France. I would recommend anyone to get up to date on the "Cathars" and to use the knowledge to plan a holiday following their story. You will NOT be disappointed with the Scenery, Architecture and the People you will discover on this journey.

We visited the cathedral in the afternoon. Although the surrounding gardens and museums are respectively pleasant and informative, the cathedral itself was a bit of a letdown. The architecture is nothing special, plain-vanilla Gothic, and the stones are well worn. This is a working parish church and although some accommodations to visitors have been made, the emphasis is on spirituality and not tourism.Highlights: Flemish tapestries, a beautiful organ, well-done oil paintings in some of the chapels, tombs of various archbishops.

Make sure you take the time to walk the whole way around this Cathedral. It has amazing architecture on all sides that you must see. The whole Cathedral is an imposing site as you approach narbonne from a distance. Amazing all round, well with a detour just to see this.

As the reviewer previous to me put it, make a point to visit this cathedral even if you think you've seen every variation and variegation of a church while on your visit to Europe. Its truly awesome -- I think I read that part of it is comprised of the tallest Gothic structure in France? And it was never even completed which lends an element of "what if?" to your visit. I am not a fan of churches or church architecture, but am very glad that my partner steered us towards Narbonne and its cathedral.

Great collection of gargoyles outside and cloister garden intimate. After a while, we have gotten to where ok, it's time to visit another church, ho hum....well this one is different. Not quite sure how to explain it so you need to form your own conclusions. We both left saying, wow, glad we took the tine to explore this one -a pleasant surprise.

The cathedral never got finished. Only the choir was built. This makes it one of the strangest cathedrals I have ever visited.
