Espiguette beach is one of the nicest places on the French Mediterranean. If you love natural beaches surrounded by pine forests you fall in love with spot.I’m pleased to see a private beach here that respects totally our environment and offers activities like paddle. We have been 4 times to this beach, the staff are friendly, the mats are well spaced out & you can have something healthy to eat or drink all day.L’0yat plage closed late every time we went which allowed us to really unwind and get the most out this beautiful beach.

Nice beach if you want a bit more space, for kites, running about, of just some more room to spread out. Nudist beach is about 1 mile to the left- be careful if you weren't expecting it!You do have to pay for the car park but worth it for the day and there is a loo as well as a little beach bar.

2 good days on this beach. 6 Euros for the parking. Had some filled baguettes from beach cafe one day and had a Macdonalds nearby on the other. Nice to walk along. Daughters shocked when we came across nudist section, initially, but soon coped. Good sand and plenty of space. Only downside was traffic queue on leaving due to roundabout 2 miles down the road. Try and leave before the masses at 5ish or stay late. Sea very pleasant but extremely cold for the Med.

I have known this beach since the 1970s and happily it has not changed apart from the improved access by car and parking "payant" .... but it is worth it to get easy access to 20 kms of sand backed by uspoilt sand dunes and then the wonderful wilderness of the Camargue, except in the remotest parts of the world this must be unique....of course if you must have beach restaurants etc. don't go but otherwise you will be hooked by its amazing grandeur and scale. In fact to call it a mere beach does not do it justice....it is a whole superb environment of its own. Sadly dogs are not allowed in season.

We visited Montpellier this August. Great dynamic city, many young people and great historic city. Definitely recommend to visit it. We had just one problem, we could find people, who spoke english and help us with some directions or explain to us about the ticket that we needed so that we can go to the beach. Initially our idea was to rent bikes and to go to the beach by bike, but the nice lady from the TAM (the transport of Montpellier) office explained to us that the bikes only can be rented with french phone number. It's not true. We tried with german one and it worked, but deposit of 300 Euro is needed to rent a bike, so be sure to bring your credit card. The second thing that we needed two days to figure it out, is that the tickets that you buy for the in-city-travel also are valid for the so called Herault transport that goes to the beach, you do not need to buy separate ticket. The easiest way to go to the beach is with Tram 3 direction Étang de l'Or and get off at the last station and then take the Herault bus, it stops on the bus station on the left (or just follow the people with the bathing suits). The beach is incredible, very long and wild. I hope that we help some other non-French speakers to explore Montpellier.

This is one of the best beaches I have been on in this part of France. The sand is white and the sea is crystal clear. This beach has become very popular since I last visited way back in the 90s. They now charge one to get a parking space. However it is well worth a visit.

extra long extra wide all natural white sand beach along side sand dunes... Incredibly picturesque, great to jog or to sun tan, isolate yourself and spend a day "au naturel"

We have three children and a beach with sand is a must for us. Espiguette Beach has plenty of sand for building castles. There were lots of people right at the car park entrance. Just walk a short way down and you will find more space. If you stay between the car park entrances there are less people. (People seem to not want to walk more than 10 m from the entrance.) The waves were high but the beach was shallow. So our 5 year old was only ever waist deep and jumping in the waves. There were many ice cream carts selling more than just ice cream in case you forgot your lunch or beer. There were many families on this beach and I didn't see any nudes and very few topless women, unlike most other beaches. (Doesn't make a difference to us, but maybe to you this is an issue.) The only issue we had was the traffic getting to and from the beach. It is a one lane road and many cars. Parking was easy though. We enjoyed our day at the beach.

Fabulous stretch of unspoilt beach on the opposite side of the bay from Montpellier. Need a car to get there and we ran into jams getting there on a sunny summer weekend. But definitely worth the bother. There is a beach restaurant Les Pieds Nus which very good on the piece we went to, by chance it has to be said. Parking was free there and dogs are allowed -- on a leash in the supervised swimming area and completely free outside of it. Tthere seems to be no dogs rule in other sections and charges for parking.

Very clean and on a long stretch of sandy beach.I highly recommend a trip here. You will not be disappointed!
