As lazy holidaymakers who'd already 'done' the major sites on previous visits to the Herault, we were tempted by the signs to this feature sited 10 minutes from our gite. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and thoroughly enjoyed exploring these amazing gardens created from an old quarry. What imagination the creators had! The result is a haven of peace, filled with changing vistas and quirky features. If you have a garden you'll probably come away with an idea or two for changing it. I'd happily visit again. And the huge fish are a real surprise when you spot them!

The garden is somewhere to visit if you are passing, but not worth a major detour. Opening times are a bit restrictive and inaccurate. We arrived half an hour before advertised time and there were lots of folk already admitted! If you want to visit, phone before to verify that the garden is actually going to be open.

The first time we visited the gardens ,we stumbled over it by accident while looking for a supermarket.Situated off the old Pezenas road, the signage is not that great, but one you arrive,it is worth the trip.Developed from an old middle ages Basalt quarry,it is now a wonderful combination of lawns, plants, small pools and waterfalls. The pools are filled with huge fish. The main feature is a huge reclining Buddha, carved by hand by the owner who bought the property. It is now funded by private donation and the entrance fee which helps to support its upkeep. It also holds evening spectaculars in the amphitheatre which is part of the gardens. The gardens have been voted the Best Garden in France 2013.

A magnificent Garden project created from an old quarry. Entry fee dirt cheap at only €6 and that includes a 'horse dancing' demonstartion each afternnon. Well worth 2 hours to explor the garden. Small snack bar offering a range of drinks and a couple of light snacks, reasonably priced. Would reccommend a visit for anyone.

A wonderful fine in an out of the way place. Kudos to the family that bought the old quarry and had the imagination and the will to transform it into such an oasis! We were hoping for more of a garden atmosphere with more variation of flowers and more gardens. Having said that we were not disappointed because of all the water and fountains around the property. I also loved some of the "wildlife". There were frogs in the ponds, a pair of nesting swans and a pair of emus. Very beautiful and worth the visit!

We visited as part of a group visit on a warm spring day when there were few other visitors. We were given a guided tour and what was most intriguing for us was to learn how the family had bought the old quarry, cleared the chaotic growth and created the garden around the pools of water. It is the water that is the most important feature of the garden. Without the water the garden would be rather ordinary. Try not to visit in the busy summer season. Spring and early autumn are best. Check on the website and/or phone to see if the garden is open.

If you are lucky enough to find these gardens they are well worth a visit. There are some beautiful statues and some quirky pieces of art around the gardens which make for some fun photo opportunities. There is an outdoor theatre which would no doubt be lovely on a warm evening but unfortunately we only had time for a day time visit. We were glad that we had found the gardens because, despite there being a fair number of other visitors around, they were peaceful and relaxing with some lovely planting designs.

These are private gardens built in a disused stone quarry, that are opened up to the public on weekends. Various events are held, including music concerts, with horses dancing to the music in a shallow lake . One of the most popular events is the Venetian weekend, when models wearing venetian costume walk through the gardens, and pose for the amateur photographers amongst us to photograph them in this beautiful natural setting. There is amply parking facilities and there is the possibility to snack on site. Entrance is by way of a small fee..
