She greeted me with a smile that said much and an embrace that was fifteen years in the making. As we strolled the brick road that beckoned toward the cathedral I noticed how it seemed larger than life in its juxtaposition with the rest of the city buildings. So did she. If you come here, to Vaxjo, look for this shining star. Not quite Swedish, not at all typical, she cannot go unnoticed. Her beautiful eyes belie the strength behind them but beware. Their penetrating stare sees into your soul and you will surrender. But you will be safe and loved. On her own, she nurtures her many children... and she does it with a beautiful life, with song, with dance, and with love and living. A mother and teacher deserving of great respect and admiration. I spent a week in her life. A week that seemed to have a year of experiences. She has my heart and my spirit. She has awakened me. She showed me what 'doing life' means. My notions of life were challenged, turned on their head and re-examined. Appreciate the moment @Leaving her energy and presence was not an easy experience. Going from life and living to just existing was a shock. A wake-up call. A new perspective was needed. More life, less stuff. My heart still craves her energy and her spirit.I had asked her... how do I find someone else with her traits, with her spirit. How nice would it be to have a person like this in my life at home. She wisely said, "there is no one who is exactly the same." Of course not.And that is why I love her.(Thank you Vaxjo, Thank you Vaxjo Cathedral, Thank you 'Condesco', Thank you Castles, Thank you hiking trails, bike lanes, wet grass overlooking the lake, birthdays, trampolines, apple trees, the rain, the lake, fika, road trips, playgrounds, laughter, minivans, dancing in the street, piano, white fur rugs, sun rooms, nonsensical words mumbled in Svenglish?, a crown in the park...And the Dolphin that took me where I needed to go and where I want to be.)May everyone have experiences like this in their life... In Vaxjo or anywhere else you might awaken.

This is a really nice church and it's nice to see one time. But I it's just a church. So don't expect anything really exciting here.

Interesting Cathedral. Well worth a visit if you are in Växjö anyway. It's rather old but was renovated in the late 1950:th.

Its an ordinary Cathedral and nothing special for visitors or tourists. But Vaxjo being such a small place, it is a definite visit and it can be really calming to be seated in for some time,Surroundings are beautiful.

It has a unique design and color sequence so you can't miss it. The inside is typical of Sweden, just kinda plain compared to other European churches. It¨s really beautiful and worth a visit.

The cathedral itself is a fantastic place. The "new" galss altar brigs together the religion and the history of crystal design in the area, which is known through Orrefors and Kosta across the world.Do nor hestitate to visist it in service (usaually less than an hour in Sweden) and se the current church alive

Easy to find - looks like only church in town. Open daily. Little area - shop in back with guide books.

A part from the rating you requested me there are few more places like Evedal lake with camping place, canot hiring, hostel, grilling placeand a good swimming place. There is also Kronobergs ruins with possible boat ride by a boat almost 100 yrs old.

This cathedral in Smaland is close to the Kosta glass works and there are many beautiful pieces in the church. Just beautiful. Don't miss the Rune stone just outside the back wall of the church. Very interesting.

The cathedral is well worth the visit. The inside is now decorated with some of the local glass work. Have a look in the rooms at the entrance to see the original stone work. Do not forget to walk around to the back to see the 11th century stone. The parks and gardens are good for a walk and relaxing. Kids loved the playground in the Linnaes park behind the church

Next to the park linnéparken,is domkyrkan with its two towers that make you dizzy when you look up on them.The outside color of domkyrkan is special and warm,makes you feel welcomed.go inside and dont forget to take of hat I did;) divine inside with high roof and light enviroment.Altarskåpet and ljusbäraren are some of the beautiful glass art pieces inside.Glass art is typical of småland with its capital Växjö my hometown.Domkyrkan is the symbol of Växjö.

I was introduced to the Vaxjo Cathedral by a professional Swedish tour guide who was on her way home after work. She pointed out the three organs as the church organist played just prior to the start of a 5 pm service. The new altar, installed in 2002, is modern and draws inspiration from nature. It can be enjoyed as much as a work of art as for its intended function. It is very special. The most recent restoration of the interior in 1995 gives the cathedral a wonderful feeling of blending the old with the new. Definitely worth a visit. Check local calendar of events for organ recitals given here from time to time.

Amazing white interior - and I was in need of a toilet and it was nice, clean and well appointed.

This is a nice cathedral in real swedisch culture style. You must visit this when in Vaxjo.
