The square is one the most famous places in Brasov. It's very beautiful, very wide and open. Also there are a lot of pidgeons there and lots of places to eat or to shop. If you are visiting Brasov, I would recommend it.

I was surprised to find such a lovely wide open square in the town of Brasov, if you are wandering around you can't miss it as it is right next to the Black church and city hall. Lots of places to eat and sit down and relax, lots of older different buildings to look at as well, can't go wrong.

This squire summarizes what the old town in Brasov is about - friendly, busy, easygoing. The square is large and sunny; There are a lot of people there, both in workdays and in weekends - kids playing, old people feeding the pigeons.A lot of cafes and restaurants are located here.Great photopgraper's spot.

This huge square was really a surprise, it could have been in Prague or Vienna. Many cafes in one end, where you both can eat or just have a coffee looking at people. At the other end the huge Black Church and in the middle a big tower.

The Council Square is one of the most visited attractions in Brasov. A must see for every tourist. It is situated in the heart of the historical center and is full of restaurants, pubs, shops and terraces in spring, summer and autumn. Also here you can enjoy different cultural activities and you can discover street artists. Furthermore you can admire the architecture, especially the old Council House, in the middle of the square. The whole place gives you many different great spots to take pictures. From here you can see the "belvedere" point on Tampa Hill with the name of the city written in big white letters in "Hollywood" style. The Square is also very close to the Gothic Black Church and not that far (a few minutes walk) to the cable car that can carry you on top of Tampa Hill.An interesting historical fact is that this square was used in the Middle Ages as a public execution place for criminals and even witches. Also here was a pillory mounted for public humiliation or torture.Overall it is one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Transylvania and Romania. The best time to visit is in spring, summer and autumn. In winter you don't have the terraces but you can visit the Christmas market.

We went there in the morning and the scenery is breathtaking. The view and building look so good in the morning and it is a great place for photograph. Too bad the snow had caused the floor to be wet and slippery. Or else it would be perfect!

Brasov is a lovely town and this is a nice enough square with plenty of little restaurants and cafes. Certainly a lovely little place to while away a couple of hours and have a bit of lunch.

It is a great place to visit in special in the summer. So you can take a walk, sit to a pub and drink a coffee, or just enjoy the view. You can also find souvenir shops.

If you have been before in any Central European city on Christmas, you would not find lots of special, but if you like the atmosphere - it's definitely the place to visit. Brightly illuminated Christmas tree, nice carousel for kids, mulled wine, local street food from many different kiosks and so on. Especially I would recommend freshly baked kalach, delicious, same as Czech trdelnik!

it was a very nice atmosphere and Brasov is one of my favorite cities in Romania. this square is a a good place for starting your journey through Brasov; there are delicious coffee shops, pastry shops and of course KFC and McDonalds. this season they decorated the place really wonderful, plenty of little shops decorated like houses where you could buy hot wine and traditional sweets. this is the Romanian atmosphere I am used to!

It is the heart of the old historic walled city at the foot of the impressive Tampa Mountain. It is surrounded by many historical buildings. There is something to do for everyone. There are several museums around, the famous Black Church, book shops, good restaurants, many other shops. The main shopping street of Brasov (Strada Republicii) starts from here too. The Reduta Cultural Center is just around the corner. In summer there are many restaurant terraces around the square. In winter this is the place where the big Christmas Tree is installed. There is some market every week, mostly with traditional (slow) food products. In many weekends, open air concerts take place here with different kinds of music, from classical and Romanian folklore to rock and pop.

It was ok, although you could see a sign baring the city name, very much like the hollywood sign, very cheesey, otherwise a nice square

You must visit the old center of Brasov with its wonderful open square, historic black Church and remains of the old wall! Wonderfully decorated at Christmas time!
